Actor and Advocate Tom Hanks continued his advocacy for veteran caregivers on behalf of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation earlier this month, along with TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie.
The pair have frequently appeared at the annual Hidden Heroes Gala in Washington DC to celebrate the thousands of individuals who have cared for our ill and injured service members and highlighted the support systems of military families in our country.
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation once again convened an evening of advocates and supporters in support of their Hidden Heroes Campaign, which celebrates and supports the caregivers who are the backbone of our military families and taking care of our veterans.
In 2022 Hidden Heroes Chair Tom Hanks took over hosting duties so that he could present the Caregiver Champion Award (named in his honor) Savannah -- but this year, the pair stood together to honor actor and Marine Corps veteran Adam Driver.
Driver shared his thoughts with the gala attendees about how his passion for arts matched well with his time in the military, even if it seems unconventional.
Hanks and Guthrie stopped backstage to chat with reporters about the Foundation and the continued need to stand by veteran caregivers and tell their stories.
