Anime Battles HQ I saw it opening night, and I'm gonna say that it's not even close to how bad Catwoman is. Sure, the film has flaws, but I feel that the critics are bashing it are either people who don't like that it's different from most movies, people who want something thought-provoking like The Dark Knight and will bash anything less than that movie, people who don't care for movies, and rabid Lady Gaga fans who are bashing the film so A Star Is Born performs well in theatres, despite it being a remake of an older film, and only getting the support it has because of Lady Gaga being in the film.

Anime Battles HQ After seeing the movie, I've gotta say, most of the parts without Venom are about a 3/10 for me, seeming rather bland and generic. However, once Venom takes over Eddie, the movie kicks up to a 7 or 8/10, with some lines that are straight-up 10/10 (again, in my opinion). The dialogue and dynamic between Eddie and the symbiote is both interesting and hilarious. But that's just my opinion, I highly recommend you see it and find out for yourself.

Don’t listen to the critics. I watched it yesterday and it was a fun movie. Great performance from them both and the connection between Eddie and Venom is fantastic! I recommend it. 8/10 cause it did have a few flaws but it doesn’t bring it down the way they make it sound. If it was part of MCU it would’ve gotten a higher score from them is what I’m saying

I haven't watched the movie but I think the reason this movie is getting such a bad critical reception is because they made this a PG-13 movie after initially making it R-Rated. Tom Hardy himself said that they cut 30-40 minutes of the best part of the movie that he liked. I'm very disappointed that it turned out the way it did. Hopefully, they make the Bluray release as PG rated but knowing Sony, thats just wishful thinking.

The critics didn’t give it a bad reception because of what rating it was. They had many problems with the film that had nothing to do with it being PG13. Btw I enjoyed the film. Not amazing but it definitely wasn’t as bad as what some of the critics were giving it.

Sure, he showed up in that awful Spideralman 3 movie but most people didn't even know much about him before the trailer for the movie. Venom may be "iconic" among comic fans like us but to the general audience, he was unknown and I don't blame him since this is his first live-action appearance after Spiderman 3. Now, take someone like the Joker who's been in media since the 60s. Thats an iconic villain aside from Batman, Superman and Spiderman who are iconic superheroes.

I wont say the movie is as bad as the critics say it is, but I wont say it was amazing either. The CGI and action was top notch and I enjoyed watching this movie. My biggest complaint is that the beginning was rushed and the story wasn't fleshed out enough for me to really care about the characters. I'd say a solid 6/10.
