For anybody going thru it, trust me it gets better. Me and my ex were together for 7 years. We broke up. I’m with my soulmate now, just had a baby & moved into a new house. Randomly found out my ex got engaged over the weekend. Thought I’d feel some way but no.. believe me when i say this, I’m happy for her. I’ve been hurt recently. Because she didn’t want anything serious with me. I relapsed because of it. I know it wasn’t a serious relationship but it still hurts. This was me yesterday where I had to leave a community I had been part of for over a decade becasue so many people were getting upset over me either telling the truth about (insert relevant subject here) or not allowing myself to be hastily generalized as a man. I even cut off friends for 2 reasons. 1) They would regularly talk about going to events at places I no longer could, reminding me of what I lost 2) Not allowing the chance of being convinced to return to said community, which tells me they wouldn't be respecting my choice so they could have me around ... which would then make me feel like their personal dancing monkey or some such. It hurts a LOT .. but you just have to do it. Otherwise, you will be torturing yourself like a victim of abuse who keeps getting tricked by their abuser that everything is fine. Not quite the same, but the dilemma is of a similar design.
