UofH alum here and fan.....He was great coach..wish he had stayed with us. But I understand the reason why he left for what he called his dream job. Just wish he had done it in a better way the way he left burned that bridge with UofH. Old saying we live and we learn. I still like Tom.

When the pod started and Coach Herman started asking you the questions he was asking you, before you could even begin interviewing him has a phycology behind it and reasons why someone would do that and the reasons aren’t good. That question was legit about lessons learned from past experiences. I’ve heard many coaches from Coach Saban to Coach Bruce Arians answer that question without hesitation. His response “I don’t want to get to far into me”. This podcast interview is entirely about you. It’s evident by the comment around the 1hr 4min mark about Texas not having what he has at FAU until he built it and now some other guy is enjoying, shows some resentment for being fired. Either way, it’s concerning. His answers had an emptiness to them. When he answered questions I felt like I was listening to a politician answer questions. You ask really great questions. You did a great job keeping it moving when he got weird.

I said this years ago that Herman reminds me of a politician more than a football coach. UT fanboys told me to stfu. I never really believed in him here at Texas. Apparently his IQ is off the charts tho. At Iowa state he would get sidetracked in quarterback meetings and have to look up odd statistics that he didn’t know (how many skiing accidents since 2000, ect.) if he didn’t know a definition to a word he would have to look it up, things kinda like that. Super smart guy but that only kinda confirms more of what I thought. I just don’t buy it that his mission is to help young men or whatever he said. You instill integrity in your players by work ethic and sacrifice to earn something bigger than themselves: Wins. Byproduct is who they become by process. Didn’t hear him expand much on that. Glad he’s gone and Sark is here to win. Not just to real in a check and say yessir to all the boosters.

Herman is a great X&O HC, but not sure how I feel about wanting my kid play for him. I don't get the vibe I get when I look at a Saban, Day, Franklin or even Harbaugh.

As a Texas fan I appreciated everything he did for us, the guy knows how to motivate his players and win bowl games. It’s a shame he didn’t win a few more of those close games that could have gotten him more opportunities bc in bowl game the dude was lights out prepared. Clearly not elite but an amazing coach who deserves to be a head coach somewhere and make a lot of money because of his skills.
