Speaking of casting. The teacher that said "I couldn't bear to lose a student on a school trip. Not again," was in a previous MCU movie "The Incredible Hulk." When Bruce Banner got into the school's computers by offering pizza to the security guard, Banner also gave a slice to a student who was working on another computer. The actor that played that student became the afore mentioned teacher. There is another connection to previous MCU movie. The principle at Peter Parker's school is the grandson of one of the soldiers that fought alongside of Captain America in WW2. When Peter is in his office getting a talking to, on a filing cabinet there is a picture of soldier.

The thing with Vulture's motivation, he just wanted to provide for his family. At the beginning of the movie, you can see that he invested/spent a lot of his money (he mentioned hiring trucks etc) into getting some of the stuff (left by the kree) for scraps only to be turned away by the damage control. And with that, he was going to be broke and left with nothing. But some of the scraps he got earlier were unnoticed and he just had to make something out of it, salvage whatever he can so he can still provide for his family. His team probably ended up making dangerous techs, because with what little he got, that's probably the fastest way to get back all the money he lost. Not saying what he did was right, be you can understand the motivation. The way I see it, the damage control department could've just seized all the alien technology from them, because in all that destruction, there are plenty of scrap metals lying around (metal from properties that were destroyed). There a lot of profit in scrap metals too. They should've at least given them something they can work on and oversee their operation so no alien tech would be "pocketed".
@3Rayfire2 жыл бұрын
Chitauri not the Kree, but absolutely. The whole Damage Control operation was sloppy and slapdash. They should've at least reimbursed him for what he already spent since they just Deebo'd him out of his contracts. Tony could've done that out of the money in his left back pocket. The governments in the MCU are pretty crappy with the Sokovia Accords and the GRC being terrible.

Holland was 16 or 17 when he filmed this. The Vulture wasn't a psychopath. In fact it was made clear in the accidental death scene that he thought he had grabbed the antigravity gun. His little speech about being a little guy provides his motivation; he's not evil per se, but he would literally stop at nothing to protect his family. He also has a strongly developed sense of fairness, which is part of the reason he became the Vulture; he felt the authorities hadn't treated him fairly. Interesting trivia: Michael Keaton played Batman in two movies (1989-1992). He also starred in Birdman, about an actor who played a famous superhero (Birdman) from 1989-1992. Then in this movie he plays the Vulture. Does anyone else see a patter here? ;)

@Techno Pirate My whole issue with the plot of this movie is that this was Tony teaching Peter a lesson that Peter didn't need. Peter was Spider-Man for six months before Tony even showed up. He never needed Tony's suit. It's ridiculous that he would need Tony's approval or permission to be Spider-Man.

@Techno Pirate It's more than that. Tony has a thing about men who are better than him dying. Ho Yinsen in Iron Man 1 was a genuinely good man. He died and Tony lived, and Tony knows it's just not right and it's a guilt that he carries. You see it again in The Avengers, _"His first name is Agent."_ _"And there's one other guy you pissed off....his name was Phil."_ In Civil War it was Charlie Spencer's death that motivated Tony's guilt, _"He decided to spend his summer building sustainable housing for the poor. Guess where, Sokovia. He wanted to make a difference, I suppose. I mean, we won't know because we dropped a building on him while we were kicking ass."_ Someone better than him. That's what he saw in Peter _"I wanted you to be better."_ Problem is Peter was already better. He knew he had to use his powers for something other than the greater good. Tony knew this, which is why he was so overprotective. He saw a chance to make someone with all of his potential without all of his flaws. The problem was he had absolutely no idea how to be a mentor. Tony's too selfish and self-destructive to be a mentor. His way of dealing with that is to not be present. If he's not around he can't cause any damage to the kid....which is Tony lying to himself, since Tony's problems visited themselves upon the kid a few times even when he wasn't around. Tony also didn't directly teach him anything. He gave him parameters that he wasn't to go outside of. He gave him the suit, told him to report in, and then gave him nothing. When Peter defeated the Vulture and stopped him from stealing a plane load of Avengers tech with zero help from Tony, Tony then realized that the kid was tenacious and wouldn't stay down. From Tony's perspective Peter just went through his Iron Man 3 and had proved him wrong. Fact is he was wrong to begin with but couldn't let himself see it. But that's not to say that he doesn't care, but he sees him more as a kid, than a superhero and his instinct is to be protective instead of educational. Which is a foolish indulgence since the kid is stronger than a super soldier.

@Techno Pirate 🙏 Thank you I appreciate that. I love Tony, but he's a pain in the ass. He's like Nat in that, he's so desperate to make up for the bad that he's done and his negligence, but he's ended up overcorrecting. He genuinely wants to protect people, but he has done harm as well as good. I think he would've been a better mentor if he'd just told Peter about the times that he screwed up. As for writing...me too.

@Techno Pirate Very important moment. And very honest. That's the worst about what Wanda did to Tony. It made him grip tighter. Cursed with knowledge.

The guy who Michael Keaton meets on the ferry and at prison is [in the comics and other media] the Scorpion. A genetically modified super-villain designed specifically to defeat Spider-Man.

The actor Martin Starr who plays the teacher Mr Harrington in this movie was the same character in The incredible Hulk (2008) but he was called the computer nerd guy. He was the guy that let Bruce Banner ( Ed Norton) use his computer for the free pizza.

in the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The forehead is shown to have partitions that clean up messes and collect alien trinkets from affected locations, to prevent civilians from coming in contact with everything. It is excellent. I recommend you watch.

sorry the staten island ferry routes don't go into the hudson river - it operates in the upper harbor area of new york bay. however the hudson river and the east river empty into the upper harbor but the ferry route is from the battery terminal at the southern tip of manhattan where the east river ends to st georges terminal on staten island

Fun trivia, Karen/Suit lady is Jennifer Connelly. She's married to Paul Bettany, who is JARVIS/Vision.

Vulture and Spiderman in the comics always had a interesting interaction. Vulture was always about the money and would do a lot of "bad" things to get it, but he was never manic like a lot of villains.

I love how absolutely patronizing it is that Captain America is the one lecturing Peter in detention, since Peter went one-on-one with Cap in Civil War and arguably lost.
