I enjoy watching these "Reactions', and seeing black folks getting surprised by the white voice! I remember when Tom came to the scene and of course all the black community had to say he was 'black'!, Along with the Righteous Brothers'!

I also love to see the young black people reacting to this song. They appreciate all the soul and depth in this performance plus the backing vocals and strings. I'm glad I was part of the 60's. I still love music and throwing some shapes😊

I was born in 1962 and only 5 years old when Tom first recorded this song then appeared on The Dusty Springfield Show. Later, when he had his own weekly variety show in the late 60s/early70s, it was on in my house every week and I watched with my mom -- hearing all of his hits like this one, "It's Not Unusual", "Delilah", "The Green Green Grass of Home", and more...but this was always my favorite. Jump ahead a couple of decades later to 1995 when my then-husband of 5 years (currently 34 years) and I made plans for our first and only trip to Las Vegas. We didn't have a lot of money but I told him while there I wanted to go see one classic Las Vegas act. Of all the acts playing there that August, when I learned Tom Jones would be at the MGM Grand, the decision was made for me. He was 55 years old and still fabulous. Today, Tom is still performing live and sounding strong at age 84.

Sir Tom Jones will be 84 in June and he can still sing this song. Check out the video of The Voice where he sings this with the son of the man who wrote the song for Tom. Check out "Delilah".

Lonnie Donegan wrote & recorded it in 1962, then five YEARS later, offered it to TJ to record. He most assuredly did NOT write it 'for' Tom Jones, because, in 1962, Tom Jones was literally nobody!

Tom Jones is INCREDIBLE! Check out his live performance of "I Who Have Nothing" done in 1970 on his This Is Tom Jones TV show. The passion in the facial expressions, the gestures, and the voice in this song is remarkable. Tom shines in every song he does! You'd like the collab he did on his show with a guest group Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young (CSN&Y was a very popular group from the 60s and 70s). Besides entertaining his audience with solos, he notably did amazing duets with many top artists guesting on his show... like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Cher, Wilson Pickett, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Jerry Lee Lewis, and many more, as well as on a show of his in the 80s, specials he's hosted, and even currently when he often sings on The Voice UK where he's been judging and coaching for a number of years. Tom will be 84 in June this year, and he has a fantastic, rich voice still. He still tours and has still recorded some great and well-received music well beyond the 90's. The most recent album he did (2021) garnered No.1 best album on the UK album charts and one of the songs charted on the Billboard 100 in the US. He has six+ decades of musical magic for you to explore in all kinds of genres. He's fearless, and with his love of performing, and his vocal prowess, he delivers. Tom gives everything he's got, with abandon and skill to his audience, wrapping the emotion with such finesse and control, heavenly tone, and beautiful depth. In his earlier years he showed near operatic range in many of his performances, and has always has stunning power and a confident swag. I suggest you might listen to the recording of the title song "Thunderball" he did for the James Bond film. Watch him perform the Paul Anka song "Papa" on a European TV show, in the afro and forgivably trending attire of the time. Watch him at age 50 singing at an Australian awards show with another powerhouse, John Farmham, rocking out with a cover of AC/DC's "It's A Long Way To The Top...If You Want To Rock And Roll." Listen to him doing Van Morrison's "Carrying A Torch" live in a small studio session with a very pleased Van as one of the musicians accompanying him. And hear the perfect fit of the man to the lyrics in his poignant interpretation of Leonard Cohen's "Tower Of Song." Tom Jones made his mark with so many hit songs, like "It's Not Unusual," "Green, Green Grass Of Home," "Delilah," "What's New, Pussycat," "Kiss," "Sexbomb," "Take Your Hat Off," "I Won't Crumble If You Fall," and others. But there are so many performances besides. I love his early soft jazz rendition of the standard "Autumn Leaves" from a French TV show, his Ed Sullivan Show performance/musical dance number, " What'cha Gonna Do If Your Baby Leaves You," his energetic "Treat Her Right" delight for the ladies, his recording of "With These Hands" that so impressed Elvis Presley that they ended up as good friends, and reprises of "Cry To Me" on The Voice UK. I could go on and on. Anyway, I wanted to share some of these things with you, and let you know I've subscribed. Enjoyed your reaction to Tom and your genuine interest in listening to more of his catalogue. I also am looking forward to you reacting not just to more of Tom Jones, but to me tagging along to watch your reactions to other artists. My well wishes on your continuing journey with your channel. Hope you explore some of my other favorite artists (like Stevie Ray Vaughan) and introduce me to other greats I've not yet discovered. Peace. 🕊️
