@classicvinylbiz - I think the performers/artists are still around but the mass audience isn't there for them... I think its got something to do with mediocrity - most people seem to want stars that aren't too amazing i.e. Joe Bloggs... good but not too good. Folk might get frightened by a real artist... someone like that might turn out to be a bit weird, have some strange sexual preference or something, its safer to stick with mediocrity. Real stars are out there, just not on TV.

I remember the B/W TV show This is Tom Jones, showing TV Zagreb 1970, the same song, with a wire dynamic microphone, and Tom Jones even briefly made a performance jumping with a rope, with the cable on the microphone, maybe there's somewhere in this clip... Another dilemma remained, it seems to me that on that TV show on RTV Zagreb there was a clip of Tom Jones with the hit Walk on By, but I failed to find out and lost my tape recorder from 1970. There is an opportunity to perform the song Walk on By at the Apollo Theatre, but interestingly no information can be found about Tom Jones in the history of the Apollo Theatre, and I know full well that he and Tina Turner, organized by Sinatra, are singing there

He had everything and the entertainment value was off the Richter Scale but of course back in the day that was the idea ‘entertainment’ The music/recording industry of the last 40 + years is not of interest to me One video I have watched is called Tom Jones Love Machine I recommend you watch it Why?
