Since the 70s I write American on forms. I registered kids for school and so many people are mixed races and don't know how to fill out the forms. We need to stop labeling ourselves. Your right on the boxes. The majority of people seem to think that if you are born in America you are an American. As for the "appropriation", America is full of different cultures so they are going to blend naturally depending on the location. There are uneducated people out there that don't know that EVERY culture had dreads before the comb/brush was invented and every culture braided their hair. As to MUSIC, everyone use instruments that were created by other cultures etc. Instead of people getting upset that other cultures adopt or like things from other cultures they should take it as a compliment. If white people doing Rap and Hip Hop etc is appropriation, then not white people playing Basketball, football, baseball, hockey etc would be appropriating.

Technically whether your white or Hispanic/Latino you’d both have to put European American because we both originate from Europe 🤯 yet they separate us based on language and skin tone isn’t much different depending on what part they are from if they are from Mexico. Most from north Mexico is more light skin than darker skin tone.

THANK YOU! For YEARS I have said we are Americans period. Never understood how those born here could be African American, or Asian American or Mexican American yet us White people are somehow just Americans. Not Greek American, European American or whatever. No, we are just Americans and it is refreshing to see someone else has this outlook. And you're right, all these forms asking what race you are. I never understood why it mattered. I am 50 and still have no clue why it is a big deal yet they insist on knowing. The real answer in all reality for "What race are you" is " I am of the Human Race, what about you"? That confuses them sometimes, try it for yourself and see. :)

Yes we're ALL Americans.. I've always said if it's about fixing the police wouldn't highlighting every incident help the cause. I'm in NY and every white person I know identifies with heritage over skin color, the only time I check white is on a govt form. If someone asked me what I was, I would say American, then Irish, Italian & German, not white. What I'm loving about Tom and watching all the black reactors reacting to his videos is 99.999% of ya'll agree with almost every he says. And it's you men and women that are starting the conversations! While most of us white people are so divided over every little thing, especially politics, there's a whole shitload of us like me who are in the middle, don't pick a political party because we know they're both trash and work together to work against all of us and keep us at each other's throats. It's us in the middle who have been screaming about everything Tom has been saying in his "Controversial" songs about how hypocritical everyone is. And how the government isn't our friend, buddy or pal. They work against us to keep us divided because a divided people is an easier controlled people. United we stand, divided we fall and it's up to ALL of us to keep these conversations going. Don't get discouraged when the sheep from both political parties attack us because we're not blindly following what their oppressors say (oppressors = politicians and the media) We all need each other more them we don't. Respectfully the only issue with that is that there is a need in certain circumstances to know a person's ethnic background because there are medications and medical issues that affect people differently based upon their ethnic background. But other than that ethnic background doesn't matter. The only thing that matters with your physical characteristics is so a person can identify and distinguish another person from others within a group of people.

Class Act!!! we are different in many ways but you had me ready to reach out to you. The thoughts on prisons is on point, however drug crimes and stolen property crimes have the absolute highest recidivism rates, around 77%. Murder and many of the "violent crimes" that actually do a lot of time are honestly down around 3-5%. A lot of the other comments were right on point also. So for me the reason white ppl don't go crazy is for 3 reasons and this is my perspective and not speaking for the majority, #1 the main reason, its not covered by media at all, it doesn't make the views of what triggers society #2 most of the time when I do see it, we, at least me, see it happen and 90% of the time they did something that caused it to happen wether the cop was in the right or not, there's a cause and effect that happens and just say we need to do better #3 white ppl in today's society is not aloud to get mad or do anything about what happened without society torching us "we've been dealing with this for hundreds of years" "see yall don't like it when it happens to your kind and now your racist asses wanna get involved" "yall have been privileged by the system for so long yall should shut up yalls opinions don't matter" etc (and yes the few things I said I have personally seen) All and all we know that there's fucked up shit but most of us have accepted that 99% of news coverage on things are blown out of proportion and missing alot of information And lastly I saw a statistic that actually interested me a couple years ago, it was saying 9 unarmed black were shot and killed by the police 1 year and said the was like millions of traffic stops on blacks that year so it was like 1 and a million chance that if you get pulled over as a black man that you would be shot and killed, and I never had thought of it that way
