That's the price of independence. A label can help you with exposure by a lot in the early game. But it's not a sprint. Life is a marathon. Tom knows empires are only built on unshakable foundations. So instead of easy route of selling out for exposure, he went in heavy on quality. Now Best Rapper Ever charted above Eminem's MtbMb B side, that ought to garner some mainstream attention. And if the casual finds him, any of them with two working braincell will stay for the quality, and booom done. Label is like the steroids of the industry. "A person who is famous while still living for doing something very well." That first sentence was accurate though.
