For Drummers out there: This is a staple Groove in the lexicon of the Half Time Ballad Groove Family of Rhythms. The signature use of the syncopated high hats against the side sticking of the snare was defined by The Isley Brothers (Ernie Isley on Drums) "Footsteps in the Dark", "Between the Sheets" "That Lady" and others,

Please learn the Cultural Rhythm Language of the music you love. Rhythms are not a generic language, we need to free ourselves from post-colonial mindset. Most people can't hear the difference between a sliding 12/8-shuffle like Purdy's "Home at Last," and the Isley Brother''s 4/4 slinky Half Time Ballad groove the the signature 16th note Hi-Hat. Send me a cultural reference for this Rhythm's widely used musical framework from Brazil, Cuba or anywhere in Latin America and I will send you $100. Why is it not there? Because it came out of Memphis, Philly and Cleveland Soul Music (the Isley Brothers were from Cleveland).

Please let's avoid using the ending -s in Simple Present. It is getting old-fashioned. We don't need to use it in singular verb forms because -s is first of all an indicator of PLURAL form for substantives (book - books, house - houses etc.) That's why "it elevates / it brings" sound illogically. He/she/it is ONE person/subject, that's why he/she/it don't need -s. We should say "it elevate / it bring" like we do it for other verb forms (I bring, you bring, they bring etc.) as well as in Simple Past - all verb forms are the same for each person (I brought, you brought, he brought etc.) It make the system clear and well balanced.

I love this joint and Freddie Kane always outshines any artist that features him. Dope bars, as per usual.

Songs like this I can’t listen to while driving. My eyes always end up closing because I can’t help but vibe out to this track. Tom Misch is doper than dope. Cooler than cool. The man is the truth!!
