This was played at my son's funeral! He loved Tom Petty and always said if anything happened to him he wanted this played at his funeral and we honoured his wishes after he passed from a massive heart attack. He was a fighter and would never back down, so I could see why he wanted this particular song. I always like this song, now I love it and play it often!

7 years Ago my doctor told me I had parkinson's. I did as I was told and gradually deteriorated. Recently I've BEen Evaluated by Another doctor and found to have Lyme disease Which Is Curable . I begin therapy immediately And feel hope for the 1st time in years. "I'll stand my ground and i won't back down."

Hooray for right diagnosis and blessings on your healing journey! This experience is all too common, unfortunately. I had a raft of crap diagnoses over 25-30 years until Lyme was found. My practitioners tell me I am at 90-95 percent better now. Yes!!!! Kudos to Stephen Harrod Buhner and his awesome book, Healing Lyme (2015 ed) and my wonderful practitioners!!!

This is not a Heartbreakers song. It's from Full Moon Fever, which is his first solo album. Petty co-wrote it with Jeff Lynne. Lynne plays on the song as does George Harrison. Also, Brian May is not in this video, that is Mike Campbell, who had a similar hairstyle (but plays a Gretsch 6186 Clipper on this song and is mock playing Harrison's Stratocaster in the video). Ringo Starr only appears in the video as Phil Jones was the drummer for the album.

@@nunabiz2807 I believe so...the people who lived in Gainesville, Fl, including my girlfriend at the time, went to school with them and she said "Hey I want you to meet Tom"...(and at a another time, 'this is Bruce' who was Lisa's age) - and I went to the local bars where I would watch Mudcrutch, play. Also I remember a close friend of Tom and the band (and mine), Nancy Luca, who had her own band and I partied with her and Tom occasionally. Tom was just a regular guy - 100%! I thought Nancy would also become a super-star - she DEFINITELY had the talent!

This should be our national anthem because we fight and won't back down!!💪🔥❤ February 2022 and this song sounds better with each passing day, month, and year!!! I was fortunate enough to see Tom shortly before he passed away and that concert can be summed up in one word.....magical just like his music is, was and will forever be!!!

3 of the Traveling Wilburys now gone. I can only imagine he's now jamming with George Harrison and Roy Orbison again with a big proud grin. I just wish he could have been around a little bit longer so I could personally thank him for this song as it has helped me through hard times. Thank you Thomas "Tom" Earl Petty. R.I.P. Such a simple arrangement. One of the catchiest, toe-tappingest songs ever recorded. Love George's sparing guitar parts but Jeff Lynne on the bass is the main driving force of the song.
