Bunnies are used in labs because they are ultra sensitive and don't defend themselves. Doesn't get much sicker than that.

You are urged to become VEGAN, since carnism (the destructive ideology that supports the use and consumption of animal products, especially for “food”) is arguably the foremost existential crisis.🌱

Your ancestors most probably didnt die because humans tested on animals? You want scientists to test directly on humans first rather than animals? Ik every scientific Research didnt need to be that cruel towards animal but what about the required once? Its sick but needed to survive. We humans did many sick things to survive this long and didnt get extinct like previous animals.

@@rodionraskolnikov3853 This is a rational statement, but it only has meaning if you are willing to do the same for the human species. If you are not, this comment does not answer the issue that the poster has raised: "life is not an argument." - Nietzsche

I thought his argument comparing rights to genes fell flat. Genes are physical things that existed before humans. Rights themselves *are* claims made by humans.

Is it fair to say that being able to make moral claims against one another infers an obligation to protect those who are not able to do so, but also suffer?

@@jont5975 surely it is only immoral if one assumes that the morality in question values several things, such as avoidance of suffering, protection of the vulnerable, behind that: belief in equality and proactive altruism.

@@rodionraskolnikov3853 Of course it comes down to a definition of morality which is pretty deep, but to my mind knowingly allowing suffering is immoral and should be avoided if at all possible. There is more and more evidence of animals exhibiting consciousness to varying degrees, and there’s no doubt that many feel pain, distress and so on. The field is still evolving.

Philosophies that attempt to understand what we already intuitively know, often become the source of needless quarrel.

Just as it was intuitive that there are: God(s), Celestial Beings, locomotive animals, organic and inorganic matter, so too is that woman is subservient to man. A man to his Lord/King. A King to his God. Anyone who denies this is morally bankrupt and misinformed. The "just trust me, bro" defense
