The song has just come up in my retro playlist for 1978. Well the EP did but I chose this song over "Don't Take No For An Answer" for obvious reasons. Everything well spoken... of course in 1976 we did have Rod Stewart's "The Killing Of Georgie" and also the Rubettes "Under One Roof", two artists who were not gay and were already successful but performed those in sympathy, and I myself am not gay although I am old enough to remember homophobia back then. The EP entered the UK top 50 the same week as "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty and "Denis" by Blondie. What brilliant music we had back then! Baker Street is musically a work of genius, Denis is a fun cover and launched Blondie's career. On the lyrical side, Glad To Be Gay is one to be listened to. I had no idea they'd put you in some kind of embargo which is why we didn't hear from you again until "War Baby" 5 years later. All well spoken though. We can empathise with the plight of others, like James Brown "I'm Black And Proud" and black lives matter even though I'm not black either. No room for intolerance.
