Tom sounds so disgruntled unboxing Kings of Ruin. It would be many people’s highlight of the year receiving that All-In Kickstarter. I wonder when Tom will get his joy back regarding board games. I get that’s it’s his job-but maybe get someone to do the unboxings that actually still seems excited about new board games.

I don't get why longer boxes are hated but those giant space wasting cube boxes are okay? The cube boxes take up more space in my kallax by far. The long boxes just poke out a bit at the back where I don't even see them where the kallax is close to the wall and they take up way less horizontal space for displaying games. I love them personally.

Tom's anger at the box size is amusing, but also valid. I wish there were a set number of standard box sizes (and card sizes) that all companies followed. I'm so sick of mismatched box sizes.

@@xshadowscreamx I got some new shelving, and was rearranging my games. I noticed I have more and more games that don't fit in a Kallax shelf, they are just too big, some by a few millimeters. When I got to Everdell Complete Collection, I just thought about how ridiculous the box size is. It's just a bit insane.

@7:10 To have nice shelf presence in stores. To keep people from pocketing the game or putting it under their coat. To keep all the components together, with inserts & room for card sleeves. To include ore information on the box itself.

Sometimes I wonder if some of these games, get dings, and dents, from Tom's occasional violent handling of the boxes... But I do agree with Tom. Why do so many game boxes have to be big enough to be artillery ammo?

Tom doesn’t pay for games so he abuses the boxes just to show his disdain for board games and how the normal person being excited about a new game is so misguided. Tom hopes him being so jaded will somehow become infectious.
