Agreed, great to see a list of recent but buyable games like this. Also, once the newness wears off, what remains a great game? I would prefer if the ranking of last year was separately talked about at the end, it's a bit confusing this way.

Thank you Tom. Mosaic: A Story of Civilization was a nice acquisition for me as well. Another game from 2022 I like to put on the table is Rear Window.

Great series of videos. I’m always a year “behind” in games, so it’s more relevant to me. I’m loving Heat and Ark Nova (not available in my area until early 2022). Twilight Inscription has been a surprise highlight from 2022. Very well designed game, tons of variation in setup, and fun roll and write gameplay. It’s truly the epic roll and write. Arkham Horror LCG’s Scarlet Keys was a welcome addition to my favorite game. Thanks!

Frosthaven and Heat remain among my top games from 2022. Wayfarers is still one I like but the rating has slipped slightly. Most of my updates were simply due to getting to play more games (ie Planet Unknown, Flamecraft, etc).

Tom, you will love Deliverance since you loved Massive Darkness 2. It is a one-off fantastic dungeon crawler experience. I wish you and Zee would give it a review sometime.

Sounds like you haven’t played “Pagan: Fate of Roanoke” then ? I was late to this one as well but definitely in my top 5 of 2022 ! I think one of the best (if not the best) two-player games out there !

I wanted to get this so bad but they only had it in german for a while. Recently the publisher got english copies but when i added to cart the shipping was $60! Kinda gave up on ever getting this lol

Because of how many games come out at Essen and how few games come out between Jan-April, maybe it’s better to do the best games of each fiscal year.

It's the old dilemma from the husiness world of timely vs perfect information. It really would be more accurate later in the year, but people want to see Best Of lists at the end of the year because it's more timely.

I think it's Paul Grogan who makes his top ten of the year video in June or July of the year, for just that reason. It gives one a chance to play all the games a few more times, see which have staying power, which lose their shine after a few months, and of course to allow time to play all the games that come out late in the calendar year.

As a former auditor, I understand very well. Though good audit practice does not make for a successful KZbin channel, haha. I'd like to think we do our best to avoid sensationalizing stuff, but we know people enjoy the year-end lists, and we have a lot of fun with it too. -Chris

You’re free to your opinion but it just felt to me that not much changed on his list so it was quicker. 🤷♂️
