Beautiful. Like Rothko his photos confront the viewer with their own limitations. Neither was big on trails of breadcrumbs to help you out.

Liminal space was a concept I encountered in my training. Neither this or that, it is the heart of creativity and possibility. You are making me consider what I am photographing and why. Thank you for another thoughtful presentation.

Photos that require the viewer to complete the story have so much to say … thanks very much! 📷🙂

John Cage's 4'33" is not really about silence since that can never be achieved, but in all the venues it was 'performed' it spoke about the ambience of the space itself, which includes the audience and their reactions. Those relationships between music, sound and noise.

I appreciate your knowledge, which greatly expands my possibilities for reflection. It is almost never in this field that I find people who, like you, help us to think and look in a different way. When I listen to you and look at the photographs you share with us, I always have the feeling that I am getting closer to the elusive concept of Art, because, just as Saint Augustine could say, paraphrasing him, "if no one asks me what Art is, I know. If they ask me to explain it to someone, I don't know." Thanks, friend!

This was fantastic! Kinda embarrassing that I didn't know who this guy was - I'm from Norway 🤔 The photo at 8:02 could've been from a sci-fi movie from the 70's even though there's nothing sci-fi about it. 6:11 Funny how simply removing the wheels from a parked airplane somehow gives the photo much more meaning. This was very inspiring, shows you can make something out of anything if you look at it again.

Extraordinary images and fascinating discussion - thanks. But gawd... that image of the baby on the beach is disturbing... and still with me.

Do you know what cameras he used? Just curious, beautiful…

Nikon F3? and it looks a bit like an 85mm lens. He also used a 135mm Macro on the Pentax 67 series, later in his career.

Mmmmm ... not sure. It leaves a bit too much to my imagination; and that can be a big dark scary echoey cave. Which is probably the point ! Can we have photo's of kittens next time please 🤨
