I’m an amputee and decided to do it 1 day after my incident. I can now go to school full time and travel full time. I workout every day and am not lazy. It’d be so dumb for me to sit in a hospital for years for reconstruction and have to put my entire life on hold.

I had a tendon in my wrist repaired and bone fragments removed from my hand back in 2014. Sure the tendon was repaired. But now I have a massive ball of scar tissue, the right side of my hand has permanent nerve damage, and it's more fragile than it used to be. I "sprained" it making a bed and I will need surgery in the future. Surgery fixed the original problem but it also created new ones. No one educated me on that. I was told my nerve would grow back? Also the recovery was absolutely brutal. I would absolutely amputate it if I had the choice. I would hate to be considered lazy for making such a heavy decision. I'm glad you commented on that. Her comment was ignorant and it was nice seeing her challenged.
