Around 13,000 miles the rear end blows out. It fouls spark plugs if not driven in the proper RPM range. Around 30,000 miles it's time for a rebuild. In 1976 when I got out of high school just before I turned 18 you could pick one up with 18000 miles on it for about $22,000 at South Van Ness Ferrari in San Francisco. If your own were lucky your girlfriend would pay for it. At the same time you can purchase a 67 3:30 with about 13,000 miles on it for $18,000. Ferraris are funny cars, they're expensive to maintain, Bad Boys with money buy them, and they beat them. That's why you need to buy two of them. So you have one to drive while the other one is in the shop. When they're running right there's nothing like them. When you sit down inside and you close the driver's door and it latches like a little jewelry box, and you smell the leather, and she idles smoothly at 1500 RPM, you know the fun is about to begin. But try to make it home before dark, and allow time for the tow truck. Ferrari was the reason the Pantera seemed so economical. If you've owned one, you know how to push one. Just when we had her run-in so nicely. The guy has no business being near it. He has no respect for the finish or where he places his big fat ass. The reason they have such low mileage it's because they're finicky and expensive to maintain. They need a rebuild at 30,000 miles.

This is so weird. I've just been taking to a mate about the Ferrari Daytonas today. Unfortunately, these cars do absolutely nothing for me. I can't see why they made them. OK! I know lots of people rave about them, but I really just don't get them. Which is a damn shame because Ferrari have made some achingly gorgeous looking cars. But for me, they completely missed the mark with the Daytona. At least this model doesn't have the plexiglass covering over the headlights. 250 GTO. Stunning. 250 GT Zagato. Lovely. 275 S racer from 1950's. Gorgeous. The LM's from the 1950's. All gorgeous. Apologising in advance to you, Tom, and any viewers who do like them. At least it still looks like it's just rolled out of the show room from new! The condition is quite stunning.

I get a kick out of watching these classic car adverts but not for the reasons they hope for. It's to watch these people try and maximize the value of these cars way beyond what is perhaps their true worth. To me a car lover is someone who actually drives cars and does not care what others think. They get up on Saturday morning, fire up the beast and go for coffee. To me the coolest people are the ones with high-end cars who drive them around the city and such and then stop for a beer at the pub. They are not trying to not drive them.
