One of the best singers ever. Bold statement but there is a difference between a good voice and a good singer.
@silkroadcaravan9 ай бұрын
exactly: for example, Linda Ronstadt has a great voice, Bob Dylan is a great singer. It's like the difference between hearing a mediocre guitarist playing a superb guitar, and a great guitarist playing a crappy guitar. ps I mean Linda's young work: she got better as she matured, as most singers do

I just told a diehard Bruce fan that one of his biggest songs was written by Waits. "Jersey Girl" is a classic. However, my favorite Waits song is Hold On-- "....With her charcoal eyes and Monroe hips, she went and took a California trip..." Waits is songsmith poet on the level of Dylan. Love this version of this song. It's like he's singing to Kathleen in the front row of that venue.

@ameCaline077 жыл бұрын
He's REAL. Heart, blood and soul. He's not a smooth 1-chord monotone machine. He doesn't care about appearance, looks, styling or vanity ...this is how a genuine musician is: he lives in and for the music. Like all real musicians have done...and few still do - the real ones - who's fading away one by one, these years. There's so few left. And the music-world has grown more hollow and empty. It's amazing and sad that a DJ can get famous just by puttin' on some records, that other people have created. In blood, sweat and energy. And he can even take the credit for it.......;-// ps. I really wonder, how you even can ask that quistion. (they're not all busy taking selfies, you know)
@jajanesaddictions7 жыл бұрын
It was a rhetorical question. I never said anything about 'selfies' so I don't know what you are talking about there.
@ameCaline077 жыл бұрын
It's all about being genuine and real. To 'live' and 'love' what you creating. Neil Young once said: "It's better to burn than to rust".....and this is what is so charactetistic for mr. Waits and all those great musicians from the time where music were more than a shiny-video and other superficiel stuff. It's hard to explain. We- the musiclovers from the 60's-70's are born and raised close to that music ...and musicians...it's a feeling. @Jane ..sorry, for my bad mood yesterday.....here's a big hug.. ;-)
@ameCaline077 жыл бұрын
@Jane. Kind and gentle woman, you are. I saved this answer for so long, as I wanted to write something more than just hi, hello and thank you, SO THAT...I almost forgot to reply (as days have gone by), If I could give you a real hug now, I surely would. Hard, good and strong! You just made my day with your loving and gentle way to talk to me♥♥♥ Yes, I love you for that. I know you don't deserve to be shouted at, and I never use to shout.....by often we see empty-headed and silly comments....we let it, or we try to give our opinion. I guess I had some aggressivation 'in store' and on that day, it just bursted out! I so wish the very very best for you, as I can tell you have your share of daily strife and trouble, and I wish I had a magical word, that could reach you and heal your pain. I can only say, you're one of the most heartfilled, warm and gentle people I've met on here. You have a beautiful soul, I can tell. And I love you for that. May your days and life be good and kind to you. And to all that you love. And may God Bless you, sweet friend, Jane ;-) ○♥○♥○♥

Man ain't afraid of living....he smokes, he drinks....that's what makes a soulful singer. (greetings from a Smoker....to all the boring non-smokers, who think they're sound and healthy while they're staring at a screen 24/7. Who think that is healthy?...I've read somewhere lately, that mobilePhones are more dangerous than cigarettes)....well, apart from this...this guy is one of a kind. Got no time for the corner boys, Down in the street makin' all that noise, Don't want no whores on eighth avenue, Cause tonight I'm gonna be with you. 'Cause tonight I'm gonna take that ride, Across the river to the jersey side, Take my baby to the carnival, And I'll take you on all the rides, Sing sha la la la la la sha la la la. Down the shore everything's alright, You're with your baby on a Saturday night, Don't you know that all my dreams come true, When I'm walkin' down the street with you, Sing sha la la la la la sha la la la. You know she thrills me with all her charms, When I'm wrapped up in my baby's arms, My little angel gives me everything, I know someday that she'll wear my ring. So don't bother me cause I got no time, I'm on my way to see that girl of mine, Nothin' else matters in this whole wide world, When you're in love with a jersey girl, Sing sha la la la la la la. And I call your name, I can't sleep at night, Sha la la la la la la.
