The trees were carved around 2003, as I was a patrol officer and chatted to the carver each week.

He was an amazing artist with the chainsaw. The trees he carved were in poor condition hence having the carvings at least retained some legacy of the pine trees. Once he finished, many of the police officers in the area at that time used to provide passing attention to vandalism. I was the Derby officer in those days. He also carved the low head trees, I believe, as you touched upon.

Bridport is an overpopulated rat race by the sea, there’s way better seaside villages than Bridport.

It was actually really quiet when we were there. Where would be your pick of places to visit?

@@hapninemptynestersit gets pretty hectic at Christmas and public holidays probably because it’s near Launceston. My pick would be any where from Cape Portland right down the east coast to Coles Bay and Friendly Beach. Another favourite is Strahan and Ocean Beach on the west coast, and also Peggs Beach on the Northwest Coast. Another personal favourite is my hometown of Weymouth on the north coast, it’s a sleepy and quiet seaside town,
