Ohh I absolutely love tomatoes. This looks beautiful and absolutely delicious. I grew up working in the garden. I would carry a salt shaker in my pocket of my bibs and nothing I mean nothing tasted better than a fresh picked,warmed by the sun fresh tomato with a rinse from the garden hose and a little bit of salt. The wonderful taste of childhood ❤ beautiful memories

Oh oh oh Papa!! You bring back soooooo many memories of my Dad eating tomatoes!! He waited all year for the tomatoes in late summer, dreaming of sandwiches, toasted or not. He and his father grew acres and acres of tomatoes destined for the Campbell soup company. Now I am drooling looking at your lovely Florida tomatoes. I just harvested heirloom and made a galette . I happened to have a case of borisn on my freezer. I use parm on top work my fresh basil oregano and cracked black pepper. I adore tomatoe Sammies. Yuup

I live in South Jersey and as soon as our Jersey tomatoes come out (can't beat them---incredibly delicious) we All eat tomato sandwiches all summer. Just like you said on white bread with mayo.....sometimes I add swiss cheese to mine. Nothing like a tomato sandwich!! Love love love your channel.

Born and raised in Northwest Ohio, only a couple of hours from Detroit. Nothing better than a Tomato sandwich on white Wonder bread, with Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Still love them today. And I agree, it’s best on white bread. I only eat whole wheat bread now, and it’s not the same.

My father and grandfather would marinate fresh tomatoes and onions in vinegar and a little bit of sugar. Then they would make a sandwich with white bread with butter though, not Mayo. When I would make them I would use Mayo. Wonderful video and great advice, thank you! And thanks for helping me recall a memory of my father and grandfather❤

Love love fresh tomato sandwich. I have lived in the south my entire 58 yrs and I grew up on tomato sandwich. And papa you are right you have to have good fresh white bread and good mayo. My family used Dukes and Hellman’s. What’s so bad is the tomatoes come in all at once so when you eat and eat tomato sandwich you get tired of them and then the tomato season is gone. But my family added a Vidalia onions because their just one time of year also. Enjoy and God bless

I have never had a tomato sandwich like that. I usually ate the tomatoes especially cherry tomatoes before I got them into the house. Grandma learned to go with me to the garden or send someone else. Tomatoes warm from the sun and right out of the garden is wonderful!

Looks yummy! We are in NJ and nothing beats a jersey tomato! Planning on trying to make this when our tomatoes start growing. We recently tried a tomato pie while at a restaurant in Ephrata , PA. In fact the name of the restaurant is Tomato Pie because they have a secret recipe for it. Very yummy! Try it out if you are ever in that area.

I agree with Susan. A tomato sandwich is good on any bread. I also like it with cucumber slices. I slice the cucumber length wise and put the cucumber planks on the sandwich with the tomato. It is one of my favorites. Great tip about heating the pan before baking the galette. I like that the galette was so quick and easy to make. Definitely will be trying this recipe.

Papa when cutting the tomato when it’s down to the end, start by laying the tomato flat. Guide your knife in first then turn the tomato vertically to finish the cut. 👌🏽👌🏽

Every year I do 2 tomato plants, a cherry and a regular in pots. Last year I was giving cherry tomatoes away. Tomato sandwiches are the best! My grandma always made them for us every summer. I still have them. I sometimes sprinkle a little parmigiana on mine. They’re really good on sourdough bread too. I need to try the galette. I always think of it as being too fancy for me to make but your recipe makes me think I can try that. Love the wisdom you shared. You have to listen to the little things that make your eyes glaze over, act like you are excited about the topic sometimes even if you are clueless. My son is grown now but we still have great conversations, but if I hadn’t let him tell me all about his video games (in great and excited detail) I don’t think we could have had some of our deepest conversations that we at time’s uncomfortable for both of us as we sorted through heartbreaks, growing pains, decisions about what he wanted to do, or not do with his life and the why. Tomato Sandwiches - we do these here in MN. Have to do something with the abundance of tomatoes. I dont care for only tomatoes in the sandwich, but just lettuce. tomato and miracle whip. Also, lots of people just cut them up sprinkle on some sugar or salt and eat them that way.

OR we make toasted tomato sandwich...exactly how you made it but we would toast the bread first. They are sandwiches I have and still crave today!!!!
