tomato pointing out the ripper blade drops made me remember this game really was developed with fun in mind even at the expense of challenge, it drops ammo for the gun you used recently and makes sure all the guns are good, it gives you an optional waypoint guide, it rewards exploration, it has tactical combat that can range from serious struggle to silly bullying, it gives access to varied weapons that do fun and wacky things its not accidentally fun its hand crafted to BE fun. its just been so long since ive seen a game developed with this in mind...

@OckhamAsylum2 жыл бұрын
Holy shit I just got to that, are you KIDDING me? 🤣 Dude, it's an M-rated game called DEAD SPACE. The cover of the first game, something you probably saw just as a consequence of searching for and purchasing this M-rated game, is a DISMEMBERED HAND FLOATING IN SPACE. Who needs that content warning?! Who is it for?! Who is buying Dead Space without the understanding that there will be violent scenes?! AND WHO NEEDS THAT WARNING IN-GAME AS A SPOILER RIGHT BEFORE THE SCARE?! And they put in an option to hide disturbing scenes?! This is one of those things that, for just this once, I agree with the Boomers on: we are getting softer. EDIT: Ok, I thought about it some more, and now I'm even more irrationally angry 😆. Ok, if that accessibility stuff is for parents or something, or a way for kids to play the game, A.) kids aren't stupid, they can figure out how to switch off the menu option as soon as the parent leaves the room, B.) who is the butthead out here buying M-rated horror games for kids? Are they banking on the excuse that they didn't give their kids a game they're probably not old enough for because they put in bizarre functions that cut out 80% of the game like Tomato said? "It's ok, it's only _implied_ gruesome butchery and desecration of corpses!" And C.) yes I played the original Dead Space when I was nowhere near old enough for the M-rating, but I snuck that shit past my parents and played it in secret like a dirty little sinner. I REFUSE to deny the future generations the rite of passage that is using your parents credit card without permission to download inappropriate content! And if that content stuff is for people with triggers or something, then I think that's more of a personal matter and not something devs should have to account for. I mean, if there's something triggering about blood and dismemberment... maaaaybe... don't buy the game where that's the most prominent feature? Kinda like walking into a KFC expecting a vegetarian wonderland, ain't it?

@@OckhamAsylum The content warnings and censor is for people who want to enjoy the gameplay but have some triggers that the game also has, so that they don't have to spoil themselves to know which parts contain stuff like self-offing or severe bodily harm. Dead Space is, aesthetically, a gorey game, but that doesn't mean it's just a playable saw movie, nor does it mean that someone whose triggered by one thing wouldn't be fine to play the rest of the game. PTSD is weird and specific like that, and it sucks to be enjoying a game only to lock up because you saw something that hit you extremely hard. The accessibility features are also useful for streamers and content creators who want to actually monetize their videos made on the game; KZbin is famous for demonetizing any game with an ounce of blood, for example. And at the end of the day, it's an optional feature that isn't on by default. It's childish to write a several paragraph-long rant about it.

I will not deny that it was the best survival horror experience that I ever got to play. I even pre-ordered this version and I enjoyed it even more than its original counterpart. I even found out that NG+ has its own unique ending if you collect the fragments of a certain statue. Instead of Hammond being the shot caller (who shouldn't know about magnetic fields and docking mechanics.) Isaac, as the engineer does the callout, because of his expertise. Same as some other situations where Isaac solves an issue by using his engineering provice to figure out how to make a makeshift bomb in the medical wing. But thats all I know for now. Just reached chapter 3-4? Myself which is the engineering deck. (So what I noticed is as a story change, they made Isaac actually an engineer and one of the people who actually knows how to fix things in the ship.)
