February 24 watching the video, growing this one this spring, Cherokee purple fan here

Thanks tons! A great type for sure. I would warn that this one leaned more toward a rich flavor like the Black Trifele or similar 'Brown' type dark tomatoes. On the Dwarf or similar types I would say the Dwarf Purple Heart is closer to the dark purple flavors like the CP. The D. Rosella Purple is a fantastic tomato. Probably the strongest and richest flavor I have had in a tomato before but its flavor profile was a bit outside of the CP. For our personal situation anyways. :)

Very nice looking mater! Sounds like a keeper to me. Yep winter is fixing to roll in fast now. With it getting so hot so early I figured winter would come early also. Been a long hot summer but you folks done a super awesome job in your yard garden. Always look forward to seeing what you two pull off each year. Stay safe and have a great week!

Thanks for sharing the different varieties. This helps us decide what we want to experiment with in the future. Yes indeed. The colder weather is closing in fast. Our projected first frost is October 27th this year.

May I suggest 3 tomatos to try for next year? Spudakee. It's probably known now as potato leaf Cherokee purple. I have had it for some 15 years . Got seeds from a late gardening friend. Outstanding producer and flavor. #2 is azoychka. Medium slicer to productive to say no to. Beautiful yellow tomato and once grown you'll keep seeds for next year. #3 is white potato leaf. It's a wow on flavor. Never saw it coming from a white mater. But wow what flavor. Couple more if I may. Persimmon. The quintessential of tomato flavor. Yellow gold and quite a big mater. Not overly productive but the flavor is worth the space. Big plants. But worth the space. Plant 3 you'll be glad you did. And lastly, the ultimate tomato for me is carbon. Oh for a field of these. Not highly productive but superb in all respects for a tomato. Had a late neighbor who's wife would look at the plants all day long once fruit set and she would wait with an eagles eye for the first ripe carbon tomato. I miss those folks. Sorry for long message but I'm talking tomatos. Ya can't shut us up. Lol.

@@philortiz7519 Understand on the tomato talk. I have started to request permission to 'nerd out' from my wife with all the tomato/pepper talk I can get into. LOL Have tried the Persimmon and grown the Carbon before. Both excellent types for sure. Will definitely look into those other 3. :)

I like how early and prolific Rosella purple is , it comes from stump of the world, which is awesome.

I was wondering what you guys would think of this one. It's my favorite dwarf for taste....that I've tried so far. It finally cooled off here today. It was 100 yesterday.
@UT332002 жыл бұрын
Thanks tons! This tomato was really good. The flavor was so strong like it could be mashed for instant sauce or soup. Really happy to grow this one and will grow again. I would have to say it was the best or strongest case for the best in a dwarf or possibly even any type for flavor. I like the Purple Heart as my favorite still for its overall other categories(meat, size, shape, name, LOL) but I think this one got Angel for the Dwarfs. August and September were insane over here for weather.

Great videos! What would you say are your top 5 tasting tomatoes?
@UT3320011 ай бұрын
Thanks tons! That is a tough one because our list changes near daily. I can throw out some bangers though for a good list on the moment. I would say Cherokee Purple, Black Beauty, Hawaiian Pineapple, Sart Roloise and Cherokee Green. Those 5 are just in the normal category too and don't include cherry tomatoes or the dwarf varieties. Of 5 of the color/flavor profiles(purple, black, orange, white and green respectively) those are currently the tops of my list. :)

@UT332002 жыл бұрын
Thanks a bunch! The Dwarf Tomato Project has a cool website here: www.dwarftomatoproject.net/ Ours come from Victory Seeds but there are alot of places they can come from. Not sure they go to Malaysia but they might or you may be able to find one of the sellers willing to ship there. :)

Does anyone know if Rosella purple is related to the Rosella cherry tomato?
@UT3320010 ай бұрын
Thanks tons! I looked into it a bit and cannot find any link to the two types. There may be some but I couldn't find anything definitive. It is an interesting topic though and will have to remember the R. Cherry in the future. I have not grown that one and as far as I can tell it has alot of genetics similar to the Black Cherry tomato which is one of our favorite cherry types. :)
@nonyadamnbusiness98878 ай бұрын
I'm curious where you get that Rosella Purple and Cherokee Purple "share the most genetics". The Dwarf Tomato Project claims that Rosella Purple is a cross between Budai Torpe, a very old Hungarian dwarf heirloom and Stump of the World, another heirloom from the collection of Ben Quisenberry of Ohio. Cherokee Purple is an heirloom from Sevierville, Tennessee. Do you have some information on Ben Quisenberry's work with tomatoes?
@UT332008 ай бұрын
Thanks tons! You are right and it doesn't share genetics. I was mistaken. I had gotten a comment about this in the past and thought I had put the correction in the description but looking at it I hadn't. It is there now though. Thanks for the heads up!

Anyone remember Dana's dusky rose? Looks very much like it. But seeds were not stable. I did find many found a black golfball from its seeds. I did and have chased it for 5 years. But this tomato sure reminds me of original Dana's dusky rose. Beautiful tomato. Would live some of its seeds.

Thanks tons! I did think I had heard of that DDR tomato but couldn't remember so had to look it up again. Looks like a really great type. Quite a bit of similarities to this dwarf RP. We do share seeds and unsure of how many we have left of this one but would send some your way if we do. It usually isn't till end of November or beginning of December that they go out though so please try to remind me around that time if you can. We can get forgetful this time of year when the yard falls apart and the work is so overwhelming. :)

@UT3320010 ай бұрын
Thanks tons! The Rosella Purple is a dwarf variety and normally we get our seeds for the dwarf types from Victory Seeds but checking them they are 'out of stock'. I found this place that has them too: www.southernexposure.com/products/rosella-purple-tomato/ or www.tomatofest.com/Rosella_Purple_Dwarf_Tomato_Seeds_p/tf-0428c8.htm Both are places I have shopped before and their seeds can be trusted. A great type for sure and the tomatoes from the Dwarf Tomato Project are all great grows.

Thanks for the review, but it is my understanding that while Rosella Purple and Cherokee Purple are very similar in taste, color, texture, etc...they are not related. A dwarf variety related to Cherokee Purple, if you'd like to try (if you haven't already) is Dwarf Mahogany.

I heard greathingz abouthese dwarfs. I gotta try1 nexyear. I heard they really durable &produce. I found 2special keeper heirloom varieties this year. I grew Reinhard Kraft Purple Sugar I liked it. Wow. 10.5 Brix Reinhard? But i also like German Lunchbox even more this year. It is better with salt. It has a blandness but down low tomato flavor that somehow beat everything in thgarden. Well except Goose Creek ofcourse. Nothing beats that. Video showing 10.5 BRIX. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJfEpWSnfb1ontE

Thanks tons! That RK Purple Sugar has a unique color shading and looks like very good flavor. The other 2 sound like some really cool and unique types as well. We have been super happy with the dwarf varieties. They all seem to grow really strong and many have as good flavor as mainstream and heirloom kinds.
