Could you pls explain how to prune dwarf tomatoes such as the rosella purple.
@TheMillennialGardener4 жыл бұрын
Dwarf tomatoes do not have to be pruned. In fact, I would recommend you not remove any leaves except the lowest set below the first flower cluster if they're touching the soil. There is no reason to remove any leaves except those touching the soil (to prevent disease) and, of course, to remove any diseased leaves as the season progresses.

I know this is a few years old, but I'm just catching up. Did you get a freak frost in later May this year? In Chapel Hill, I can usually plant about the third week in April, but we had this crazy cold snap with temperatures in the 20s and 30s. Also, I need to look for the follow up video, if you did one, to see how this compares to Cherokee Purple! I was listening with my headphones, and Dale barking scared the crap out of me. I thought it was my pup! Haha!

We actually got a frost on April 23rd this season, which is 5 weeks past our 50% frost date, and 3 weeks past our 90% frost date. I actually documented the entire thing here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqDQaK2fbr-hr6c I have dozens of videos on tomatoes and their flavor. This is a small sample playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PL1gY7BoYBGIG8a5cJO4fUHLVub5qvTpaf I'm pretty much done growing Cherokee Purple because it's so problematic, the yields are so poor and cracking problems so bad, but Rosella Purple I will continue to grow. It handles rain better and in my opinion, the flavor is superior.

My rosella purple are starting to flower. Will the plant self pollinate or can I pollinate myself? How do i self pollinate the plant?

Tomatoes are pollinated by wind: the wind shakes and vibrates the flowers. Tomatoes are self-fertile, so all you need to do is vibrate each flower. The BEST way to do it is with an electric toothbrush like in my video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmPdoKKom9WNa5I
