1:10 "Even Angelina Jolie made her into an icon".... I love you Alicia, but sorry darling it is the other way around. Lara Croft made Anjelina Jolie into an icon. LC was already an icon before the movies, she catapulted Anjelina Jolie into what she is right now which she took for granted. She hated playing as Lara Croft, she declined the 3rd installment. She was ungrateful for that experience.

She's technically not incorrect though. Look at all the stupid people who immediately think of Angelina Jolie when you mention the name "Lara Croft". We even have people thinking THIS movie is a prequel to her movies, ask why Angelina isn't back and think the games came after. Yes Lara was extremely popular before that, BUT the movies cemented the series and character into pop culture history. That's what Alicia is getting at when she makes this statement.

I knew Lara Croft was a popular video game series, but like it or not, video games aren't as mainstream as movies. Angelina Jolie most definitely catapulted Lara Croft as an icon that became recognized in households across the world (including those who don't pay any attention to video games). It's pretty telling that most people - I dare you to ask - think that the Lara Croft video game series came *after* the movies did.
