Okay am I the only person that actually this series for continuing the survivor trilogy and not focusing one the supposed “woke” bullshit? Seriously , we get to see Lara fully take her first steps into becoming the classic tomb raider , finally used duel pistols while still keeping the bow , and saw her kick serious ass And yet people are still complaining, why ?

@@neofulcrum5013 It's not that you can't please everyone it's that some people can't be pleased. Look at the Legend games, overall pretty solid games but at the time of release "True" Tomb Raider fans were complaining how it betrayed the series the made Lara whiny who was crying because she lot her mommy. And now those some people are complaining that the Survivor Continuity is bad because Lara is whiny because she has PTSD and is struggling with it and has friends and possibly a girlfriend and anyone who knows Lara knows she has no interest in romance at all... Unless it happens to be a guy and then suddenly it's fine for her to have a love interest because shut up. Trust me when I say that the ones complaining have never actually played the games or read the comics they claim to love because most of them don't know anything about this series because this is just something for them to complain about and nothing more. Ask any of these "Fans" about Lara's parents in the OG games and most of them will talk about how Lara dealt with her parents deaths without getting all sad which is hilarious because Lara's parents are alive in the original games and not on the best of terms with their daughter. In short, these so called fans don't know this series and don't want to. They just want to complain because they have nothing better to do.

I have some REALLY mixed feelings on this! On the one hand YES Sam's back on the other, dammit TR Sam is a badass why are you making her the kidnapped victim again. The next season better give her several badass moments or I'm going to be SO annoyed!

To be fair we really don't know how much of a fight she put up, certainly looks like she fought back given the state of her apartment. I'm willing to wait and let them cook for season 2

@@ecrulis6954 I will reserve judgement until such time to know the full story and it will be interesting to see how everything progresses given that Sam was clearly on her own adventure and was doing well until recently. But this series is one I have a lot of feelings on and many of them are not good ones. I don't like the inclusion of Roth's daughter Camilla as it's a blatant retcon to his backstory as he only had one daughter whom he didn't know about until he got to Yamatai and flat out states to Lara in a letter to her "I love you like the daughter I never had." Between this and a meriat of other things (like Zip meeting Lara and Sam in high school even though Lara and Sam met in Collage and Lara had not friends her age until she met Sam) gives the impression that the people making this show didn't play the games which is an issue when this is suppose to be a sequel to the Survivor games. There's the issue of trying to combine the different versions of Lara into a single character and it just doesn't work. This has been an issue with the series ever since Rise of the Tomb Raider everyone trying to combine the different versions of Lara and say that the Survivor games re a prequel to the classic games. The problem is that makes no sense because there are a number of major differences in the classic games and the survivor games the most notable being LARA'S PARENTS ARE STILL ALIVE IN THE CLASSIC TIMELINE!!! And in terms of trying to combine these different versions of the same character it creates inconsistencies with this character. She's sassy one minute who is only doing all this for the thrills but then in the next minute she's doing all this to avoid dealing with her PTSD and she's now completely serious. The Lara of the Survivor Timeline is NOT the Lara of the Classic Timeline and no matter how hard every keeps trying to combine these characters they simply do not mix. This version of Lara can be sassy but she cannot be a thrill seeker who does what she does for the adrenaline rush but also somewhat hates what her adventures life has brought her. Either she does what she does because she doesn't want to confront what she's done or she does what she does because she's an adrenaline junkie. So while I think this show has it's moments I think it's a mess that needlessly retcons to much of the story from the current games and doesn't understand that three different versions of the same character simply do not mix. However, this is the first season of the series and first seasons normally suck or are at the very least just okay. Star Trek often has terrible first seasons, She-Ra's first season had a number of episodes that were just alright and the Clone Wars first season was often just plain weird. So, skeptical and concern but I'll keep an open mind and at the very least, Sam is FINALLY back in Lara's life and promises to play a big role in the next season. And given that some of the best stories in this incarnation of Tomb Raider focuses on Lara and Sam's relationship hopefully this will meet the high standards those other stories have set.

@@Winter-The-Masquerade What??? Are you really talking about Tomb Raider or some kind of The Last of Us??? Since when did we go from adventure, action, and exploration to lesbian relationship drama? To be honest, Sam was never that important or relevant to the franchise; she'd just be a burden to Lara. She only had a few lines in the first game, and some people liked her because they wanted Lara to be a lesbian. Besides these shippers with that crazy idea, no one else cares about Sam. I'm all for bringing Sam back in some kind of supporting role so she can finally die (like she was originally supposed to in the 2013 game), but this is not the way to do it. Especially when Sam is, at best, a very divisive and useless character, and at worst, a character only liked by a very vocal minority.

@@Winter-The-Masquerade None of the best moments focused on Sam and Lara's relationship. It was one of the WORST things about the series, as it completely made Lara into anti-Lara. The best moments of the series was in Tomb Raider Underworld, where she was bold, confident, skilled, and explored some truly amazing locations. Modern tourists really have destroyed a lot of classic properties.

@@ytaloo.roni13 Unfortunately the loon-a-toon type shippers tried making Lara a taco hunter in the comics but at the time Eidos put a halt to it. But now they're going full blown taco hunting, so the only thing that Sam will do in this horrible character-destroying series is work as a foil so Lara will have to choose between the blonde-hair DEI-insert and Sam, turning it into an even worse version of Twilight for the taco crowd.

By the end of season 1, the survivor Lara starts to become the classic Lara Croft of the 90s~2000s. I hope she completes that journey to become the sexy female Indiana Jones by the end of season 2.

Lara from the PS1 games and the survivor trilogy are completely separate characters with different origin stories. This is just Crystal Dynamics trying to retcon because they know the classic games are more popular.

@@extraleague01 Did you know that Robin Hood originally didn't steal from the rich to give to the poor? That was added around the late 1800's. In fact he was a complete loner, didn't have his Maid Marian, his Merry Men, Little John, Friar Tuck none them. He didn't enter into an archery contest where he split an arrow down the middle until I think about 100 years after he was created. Didn't have his arch-nemesis the Sheriff of Nottingham until about 20 years or maybe thirty years after Little John was created. His time frame of fighting during the crusades where he battled King John while King Richard was away fighting the Crusades didn't show up until the 1900s and the series. And most recently we have the character Azeem, a Muslim who fights alongside Robin who was created around the 60s I think and was popularized in the 90's film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. And that's not even getting into the many alterations to other long standing stories that have undergone so many changes that they barely resemble their original version. Merlin from the King Arthur was at one point was the Anti-Christ... That's not a joke that really was Merlin's origins for a while he was the Anti-Christ, got baptized and became a good devil spawn of Satan. In more recent media Alfred Pennyworth didn't know that Bruce Wayne was Batman and wasn't working for the Wayne Family until 1943, 4 years after Robin was created and Robin was created one or two years after Batman was created. Batman originally dealt with villains by using the gun that killed his parents. Superman couldn't fly until his movie, Uncle Ben never said the Phrase With great power comes great responsibility. Pro. X had the hots for Jean Grey. The point I'm trying to make here is that there is fixed canon. Stories are retconned and re-imagined all the time and what the characters were thousands, hundreds or even just 30 or 40 years ago is not who they'll stay as. Lara started life as a lazy ripoff of Indiana Jones, was a guy, had a whip, hat, leather jacket the works. She was reworked into who she would became, because Paramount found out and threatened to sue the studio and ordered them to change the character. Thus Lara Croft, which is a name they pulled out of a phone book, was created. Sure she started life as a solo act but so did Batman and how he as like 7 or 8 kids a father figure and so many friends that calling a loner is just silly. Lara of the 90's who did what she did for the thrill of it is never coming back. It's very likely that in the near future Lara will be known as a Survivor who goes on adventures with her long time girlfriend Sam Nishimura as the two uncover ancient secrets and battle demons and undead armies. Not saying that the Lara Croft of old is bad just that, as time goes by and new writers come into the picture the character will change. She will never be who she use to be. Sometimes that means we get shit stories and sometimes we get good ones. As a fan of Sam and her relationship with Lara I want to see Sam return and become Lara's partner and girlfriend. If Kratos can have a sun and get two critically acclaimed games then why can't Lara get a girlfriend and have the same thing happen?
