I do hope after the trilogy is completed they keep the same story line. Like have ties and references back to this reboot trilogy. Otherwise everything would’ve been for nothing. I’m only hoping because when Crystal dynamics completed the trilogy (legend, anniversary and underworld) they rebooted it again.

Paige Cameron I'm not a fan of reboot Lara continuing the franchise. It was a fresh idea but the experiment should stop with the trilogy. We deserve the iconic unapologetic Lara back, with her ponytail, dual pistols and Croft Manor.

If you look close this trailer for Rise is also CGI - her face is different & the scenes with the bear aren't actual game play scenes. Also love when the therapist describes people stuck in trauma "like a ship frozen in ice" - nice nod to the first tomb we encounter in the game! The CGI for the first TR reboot game is more subtle, but I think her eyes are a smidge different from the in-game model. But I could be reading into that one.

Yes it’s a sequel. Nothing to be confused about. Ana from the previous game was killed by the order of Trinity. In this game Trinity are still here and still use Lara.

From what I have understood It's still about immortality. In 2013 Lara witnessed Himiko's immortality and she found some docs on the island of Yamatai mentioning Trinity and something they were after called "The Star Phenomenon". Trinity were after Himiko's secret, the secret of how did she do it? How did she transferred her soul to other bodies and continued living in them? In Rise of the Tomb Raider Lara becomes obsessed with myths about immortality much like her father was (because of the death of Lara's mother)... she goes through his works and unintentionally leads Trinity to there next goal: The Divine Source. An artifact that according to the myth holds a fragment of god's soul and whoever posses it becomes an immortal. Was The Divine Source "The Star Phenomenon" Trinity were looking for? Was it really divine or of alien origins? Did Himiko possessed something similar to the source? The Star Phenomenon? We don't know yet. What we do know is that in Shadow of the Tomb Raider the whole truth about everything will be unveiled and that includes Trinity's motives, The death of Lara's father, immortality and the most important of all, the truth about who Lara Croft really is, who will she become. The Mayan Mythology have a LOT to do with immortality and gods so things are going to get really interesting and really really dark.

The reboot never should have happened. I would have prefered a continuation after Underworld. The last trilogy stayed so close to the classics. This doesn't feel like the Lara I grew up with. It's a new Lara for new fans. I want at some point the old Tomb Raider formula back. Dual pistols, acrobatics, the tights she's known for... everything.
