In contrast to the Sirui, this actually look at least a bit anamorphic. BTW the ghosting / veiling look beautiful. Also: Nice Bronco.

Honestly, the fact you did not mention it's for APS-C before 4:50 is outrageous. And also saying this lens is cheap while comparing it to full frame lenses (especially, before mentioning it's for aps-c) is out of touch and irrelevant

Sirui also has an AF anamorphic released, not sure this is the first. That lens is also APS-C (although purportedly pretty much covers a FF sensor), I don’t understand why they didn’t make FF lenses first. Maybe grab the Sirui and do a comparison? And then interview the lens manufacturers to see why they didn’t go FF first- cost, design, weight, etc.?

As a kid in the 1950s and 1960s I saw most of the classic cinemascope three projector movies in downtown Chicago theaters and my first personal experience with a anamorphic lens was in High School in 1968 when I got a job assisting the after school driver’s ed program and discover the 16mm films projected onto the screen in the trailer containing the driving simulators had been shot with one and the projector had one. Without question the wide anamorphic format works really well in a theater venue but less so when watching movies on a 16:9 format TV screen or 4:3 iPad so how practical are they nowadays?

@@Schxndr apsc’s only real weakness in high iso performance (in comparison to ff) and depth of field. These days apsc cameras can give great results up to at least 1600 ISO and we even have affordable f/1.2 primes from Viltrox now.

I don't get why the negativity to this lens for being Super35/APSC lens. I mean this lens is more intended for video/cinematography works, you can choose different cameras that can outperformed some FF cameras for that matter. From EOS C70, Komodo-X, Alexa 35, even FX-30 or Fuji X-H2S are pretty decent. Everything depends on your budget.

Recently watched a YT video where the anamorphic effect was created (copied, mimicked) in DaVincei Resolve using a basic wide anglel lens and video clip. The pure hobbyist could likely get 95% same result with creative editing and save the $800.
