If cameras were made from scratch with today’s tech there is no way we would use a full frame (35mm) sensor. That’s just a hangover from the film days! We’d use smaller sensors for sure, as the physics of full frame lenses at anything above standard is just unwieldy.

It makes sense that the production of new DSLRs is pretty much over apart from Pentax, but on the used market they're still popular. They're rugged and parts/donor bodies are still widely available. You can get a top of the line DSLR from 10 years ago for cheap

In the German language there is the word “Lichtbildner” for photographers. Which means something like creater of images with light. If you understand photography that way, the DSLR is actually indispensable.

Dual card slots seem so superfluous at first but when you get a camera with them your workflow becomes so much more streamlined that you can’t go back for any reason.

Still - Price not getting lower an inch.. At the same time mirrorless are twice the price of DSLRs..

I hate to use my NX1 and NX500, they don't have IBIS and AF is not very good with the pancake lenses, but man the image quality is top notch, they don't have the best DR but the colors are fantastic and the tiny 30mm f2 lens has excellent rendering, close to my best vintage manual lenses, maybe it's related to the lower element count.

Maximum shutter speed 1/500 with mechanical shutter and like half a second shutter lag is not okay.. If it just had a quicker readout speed for the electronic shutter, like 1/60 of a second instead of like 1/10s and did not give horrible shadow performance when using the electronic shutter, then YES. But as of the specs, no, it is not an alternative. If you are a raw shooter, the Nikon J1, J3, J4 or J5 with a kitlens or the 18.5mm f/1.8 is the MUCH better choice, especially for BW raw conversion. For color - not so much.

It's videography that's more expensive. Cameras without video capabilities are way cheaper.

I don't ever shoot video but I have a weird attraction to this body just because of its size-to-resolution ratio (if such a thing were to be measured). I have an S1 that I love using but it can be a lot to carry on long hikes. An fp L takes the same glass, has like two and a half times the resolution, and is just so tiny. I don't know. Maybe I'm trying to rationalize an irrational desire.

In jigsaw puzzles which is a small niche on yt, i found that i have to be very careful with how i say anything - the haters are there to call out - all the Karens of the world - no pun intended. People get so loyal to brands and so brainwashed to accept only one brand or side, i see a lot of hate on my channel too Particularly when it comes to opinions of puzzle championships which is totally biased and run by large puzzle companies. The haters only show up to criticise or plagiarise. I think the internet is at its very last legs before a major reset. Stay strong and best of luck.

funny thing is most mobile phones have a " copy " of these features implemented on their gallery apps which allows you to change focus, focal length and the intensity of the blur also that " living image " effect and they work pretty good

I have a bad taste in my mouth about Canon. There are no 3rd party options, and all repairs only go through Canon, which is overcharged. Switched to Sony and not going back. They're like Apple, I switched to Galaxy and am not going back.

As others have said here, the Mark 2 might be worth the few extra dollars. Upgraded processor, and 20% more megapixels. But OM-1 Mark 1,2 & 3 are very capable.

This thing was cool cuz it could focus all the way up to the lense. If you put a fingerprint on the glass, you could focus on it and do some funky effects like that. My FIL gave it to me a few years ago but it kind of sucked to use so i sold it relatively recently

Bro... "affordable". U can find thousands of mirrorless cameras for the exact same price. You can get a used a7iv for that. Or 2 a7iii's or a7c's...
