The correct word for "it" in Malay is "ia" as in "Ia pergi ke Kuala Lumpur." "Ini" is closer to the word "this" than "it".

Tom, I really appreciate you uploading this video. It's great that you're expanding your Malay vocabulary and you're teaching others Malay. However, I can't help noticing a flaw I wish to rectify in this video. "It" is "ia". "This" is "ini".

for "IT" you suppose to put something like Bas ini pergi ke Kuala Lumpur or Kereta ini pergi ke Kuala Lumpur. Ini cannot be use as a stand alone like in English which is " It".

'Kamu' (You) is really not used with everybody, you use only with close acquaintances and those younger than you and people of same social status with you. Same with 'awak', 'kau', 'engkau', 'hang' (all of which mean 'you') It is RUDE to use KAMU with your parents, your older relatives (aunts, uncles, grandfather etc)), your elders, your boss, your teacher, someone of higher social status (a king, a royal family member, government official, head of states etc). Kamu is OK with your students, your kids, your younger siblings, your younger relatives, people younger than you, your close friends, your peers. But with strangers you meet first time better use ENCIK (Mr, for male), TUAN (Mr for male), CIK (Ms for female if she is not married) ), PUAN (for female if she's married).. same with AKU (I), never ever use it with above groups of people that I mention above. That'll be rude dude! Use SAYA. I am Malaysian Malay ethnically..

if by any chances you find a banana fritter.. the correct word is "pisang goreng" > pronounce as "pee-sunk go-r-ink".. NOT "Goreng pisang"
@praised.art754 жыл бұрын

'IT' is 'IA' not 'INI' which means 'THIS' and 'ITU' means 'THAT'!
