Toby was my childhood. I watched everything he did from his main vids to his gaming channel, vlogs, and appearances in The Annoying Orange. When I heard the allegations, I was sad, but then when his "victim, *ahem"* took a picture of a box of condoms and claimed that as proof, I knew it was bull. His career was in a slight dip at the time, and sadly, a combination of the allegations, his core audience growing up (like me), and content that slowly became stale, simultaneously, that was it for him. I still have a huge love and appreciation for him even though I don't really watch him a lot anymore.

MMS messages cost €0.25 but you had to manually set your phone up so you could send and receive them. Also whem you typed character that equated to over 3 text messages, it automatically became an mms. I told him that we used to have a computer with 1mb of HDD and you'd put in a Floppy Disk which was 1.44mb so the Disc was more storage then the PC itself. He told us we were lying and it was impossible. So yeah no offense or anything but you reminded me of that kid when you said "You didn't need to pay for texts right? Nah they wouldn't get you to pay for each text." When i was a kid when you called overseas, what they called STD call, it cost you a f**kton of money and you had massive voice delay. I remember my mum calling my uncle and she had to ask a question then wait 20-30 seconds for a reply. So yeah when you had video games with instant voice chat worldwide it was like... Toby should still be relevant today at the same level of someone like Adam Devine. What happened to him is terrible. His friends just let his career go to ruin and didn't care. Sounds so oddly familiar. Oh yeah, the same thing happened to me. People in this industry are snakes, rats and narcissists. They will act like your friend at face value but pray for and eventually cheer for your downfall. I helped raise over a million dollars for charity, gave countless people a platform that lead them to success and the people and "friends" in my circle just watched me slowly decline - people who wouldn't have careers without me just sat there in silence until the day came where I announced I had to step away because I lost everything trying to hang on. They all didn't hesitate to like THAT tweet. I had to disappoint and abandon the few people who DID still support me because I lost literally everything trying to keep CC as a career. I can't even do it for fun anymore. There is no more "fun" to be had. Content creation on KZbin, Twitch, Kick and Rumble desperately needs its judgement day. I can't even begin to tell you the amount of people in this industry that deserve to lose it all because of their sheer moral bankruptcy, narcissism and greed. Toby deserves a second coming and bounce back at the same level of No Man's Sky. His ex should be in prison for life. And Tom, if you see this message - watch who you trust. There are people in your immediate circle that are very much a part of what the problem is. If you start getting close in terms of views and engagement to others - you become a problem to them.

I despise how the term "lolcow" has lost all meaning. No, Toby is not a lolcow. Just the act of having a massive (and yes, often very cringe to witness) downfall inherently does NOT make you a lolcow. Just as watching someone continue to trip over themselves and fall *literally* isn't always inherently funny. Is it your friend and he's a clutz and his dumbass makes you laugh? Funny. Is it an old man who just fell to his slow agonizing death? Not so funny. Context matters, the details matter. In fact...I would argue Toby's downfall is incredibly sad. From the controversies which ignited it (a lot of false allegations by bitter exes in there too btw), to the painfully cringe edgelord attempts to grasp at relevancy, it's all just fucking sad man. The guy is clearly a talented genius in so many ways...and look, his content was never really my cup of tea, but to see what he's become? There's nothing funny about it, imo. Everyone is saying that the allegations were debunked, but how exactly? It seems more like the attempts at debunking kinda corroborated the scene set by the allegations. All of his ex girlfriends corroborate that he was a drug addict and abusive (nobody gives a shit if you dont use the word abusive, but then go on to describe abuse) and that other girl saying that his accuser was jealous and didnt like her, kinda makes sense given that the accuser said that Toby was cheating on her. No shit, she'd be paranoid, jealous and hateful of the women around him if he was cheating on her. The "debunking" also claims that Toby just wasnt that into her and didn't want a serious relationship, somehow not realizing this is also corroborating the accusers allegations of Toby telling her that he didnt want a relationship and then changing his mind in private. This is a really common manipulation tactic and its not rocket science. Theres also just the fact that everyone in the LA KZbin scene corroborated that he would throw massive parties for several days on end, get drunk and use heavy drugs etc. "Well he didnt rape me" is not debunking a rape accusation. Toby didnt have to rape every girl he met in order to be guilty of rape. I understand that its one person's word against the other, but I cant believe anyone actually thought that debunked anything at all.... Also he fell off because his content sucked and he didn't adapt. The ""false"" allegations didn't do anything because everyone just rolled with the idea that they were false for some reason. I agree that he isn't a lolcow, maybe a bit of a schizoposter.
@ineedit17724 ай бұрын
Hold up now, he didn’t fall off because his content sucked, his fans just grew up and he didn’t adapt with the changes of KZbin, pewdiepie adapted and became edgy, cinnamon toastken did the same thing, markiplier started playing more horror games KZbin was in its edgy era, etc but toby just stayed the same and also took a small break cuz you know. Also if he did rape her where are the police? No SA charges? I don’t remember anything about charges but if he did rape her why didn’t she take it to the police, every time I see stuff like this on the internet and people go to the internet first and not the police it just reminds me of that georgenotfound situation, I don’t even like Minecraft KZbinrs but I felt bad when someone tried to defame him with false rape and SA allegations. Not trying to be rude but If she really did get raped why didn’t she go to the police? Unless I’m wrong and she did go to the police and press charges then whoops.

I think Toby's "Me Too" video was pretty reasonable. I mean, despite his own, alleged, experience, he's still advocating for rape accusations to be taken seriously, just also for social justice to not take over and for lynch mobs to hang people before evidence is considered. It's impossible to say for sure who was in the right or wrong in terms of his own allegation, but between his position in that video and the sheer rarity of violent rape, I've chosen to believe that Toby was innocent. Also, the girl didn't go to the police. Like, I get that there are a whole lot of reasons women wouldn't want to but some of them are really bad reasons. Like, "convictions are rare" is a really bad argument for not trying at all because if no-one tried convictions would be non-existent instead of rare. Some are more reasonable like "reliving the memory is painful" and "being pressured aggressively in court as a witness is extremely stressful and exhausting" and even just "long court cases are a huge disruption to someone's life and can be financially, emotionally, physically and mentally taxing." Beyond that though, I think a lot more people would get angry. Like, most people wouldn't just lay down and not try, they'd be mad, they'd be stomping their way down to the police station, they'd be handing over every text message and every tiny bit of evidence that could possibly infer guilt. Plus, there's the consideration for other or future victims. Personally, as much as I sympathize with victims of any crime, sexual or not, I think they have a duty to report it. Like, without police reports we can't actually deal with crime. The whole criminal justice system is there for a reason and choosing to not engage with it is choosing to not pursue justice. By not reporting it, they're actively choosing to allow a rapist to continue living free. They're actively choosing to allow future victims to be abused and raped. Honestly, I just don't think the downside of "I don't want the stress of a court case" outweighs the benefits of filing a report. To the point where I would even say it's selfish to not report the dangerous person. For an entirely different point, you are looking through old videos. I don't keep up with his channel but I did some how end up running across or two of them over the years. That "youtube isn't showing my videos" one came out at a specific time when youtube made a huge change to the way the algorithm worked, and a lot of creators found that their views had massive dips. It was a pretty common complaint at that time and I remember a lot of people making videos about it. So while it's generally pretty pathetic for a creator to whine about not getting views, the context of that one actually made it a bit more acceptable when it was released. His new stuff is super cringe. I can only assume his own situation pushed him toward more right-leaning politics since they seem to be more on the rape accusations are made up side, rather than the left, which is where the Me Too, "believe any and all claims from self-purported victims", movement mostly found traction. I kinda also get what he's saying about misinformation and disinformation making it really hard to inform yourself, and therefore it's difficult to be confident about any information. Especially when people less scrutenous than yourself are super confident because they're arrogant and stupid. Literally just Dunning Kruger effect but for literally everything, and you can't be an expert on everything, so you're always left knowing you don't know enough to really talk about most subjects, but there are other people that know almost nothing that feel like they know enough about everything to make and accurate decision and then try to convince others of that opinion or even demand others adopt that opinion. It's not so bad for a guy like me who just spouts crap on the internet in comments sections, but for a more major public figure I can imagine he really feels the pressure to get things right. I mean, I think you probably feel that pressure too, but you kinda just buckle down and do the graft needed to do necessary research, even if it's a lot of work. (Or have a team of people work on it, to keep each other, and therefore you and the channel, right.) He always did have a bit of a tourettes kind of crazy 'shout whatever comes to mind' thing going on, even when he was at the peak of his career. It just seems even more crazy when he's also talking about right-wing stuff, haha.

I think you wrote an honest opinion on reporting and the things that get tossed around to explain why some don't report but also what to add to why some don't report- the exam and evidence collection process including being photographed, your electronic privacy being diminished, the physical examination, and the constant questioning of the report your giving can feel just as bad if not worse at times than the assult you suffered. Way before things flirt with court, the process of reporting rape and giving evidence is extremely violating and the thought of facing your abuser again can terrify people. Without the acusser, those cases go nowhere most the time. It's not selfish for a victim to not report imo because it may be the only safe thing they can do for themselves either physically or mentally or both.

@@ScarletMarie0007 I understand where you're coming from and I even agree that it's an awful experience, but I still think the victim has a duty to report the rape and seek justice. At the end of the day, it's really just more trauma that the rapist has caused because it follows on from the incident itself. While I sympathize with someone who's been through the initial incident and who wants to avoid the rest, it's vitally important for the sake of themselves and others that they do report it. As I said before, it's just not reasonable to allow a rapist to go unchallenged simply because the courts would be difficult. Like with many things, the victim didn't choose to be in that position, and would obviously not have wanted to be in that position, but now that they are in that position they have a responsibility to do what they can to report the rape. That being said, the courts should make every effort to make the experience as painless as possible for a victim. I'm sure they make some effort but I'm pretty sure they could do more. Either way, if someone doesn't go to the police, they lose all ability to challenge the rapist later. As in the above video's example, it's entirely unreasonable to choose to avoid court but then try to push a verdict through via social justice. If you don't use the justice system, you don't get justice. Social justice is no justice at all, it's literally just a witch hunt and they should honestly have no place in society.

If you know nothing is going to come from reporting it to the police and all they do is tell you to take a rape kit, then what the hell would the point be? I've spoken to people who have been raped and most of them just try to pretend that it never happened while they suffer with severe PTSD. Most of them didn't put up much resistance because they were heavily intoxicated and unable to move or speak. Some of them got a rape kit done and it was extremely traumatizing and nothing ever came of it. I ended up filing a police report on one the victim's behalf and literally nothing came of it. A couple of them attempted suicide shortly afterwards. One of them turned to drugs. Your presumptions about rape victims are fucking disgusting. I know you probably mean well but the MeToo shit didn't just crop up out of nowhere. Rape is not some mythical rare thing that never happens. It's unfortunately pretty common and it's still baffling to me how so many people find it so hard to believe.

I can’t know that his content is actually genuine, but he can’t know that his content is fake or pandering, so he shouldn’t be saying as such. I guess it helps him with his narrative and there’s nothing wrong with using framing devices for a narrative, but you still have to be careful with your words or you’ll stray into selling speculation as fact. Great video otherwise.
