This is exactly what they were doin in the 60s, build a race frame and slap a body on it, and you can see the evolution of what would eventually become the 'Funny Cars' class.
@MikeJones-yl5ci5 ай бұрын
If they put body's on them, they did some seriously wild stuff back then. Mad props to the old guys

You are welcome and I'm glad you enjoy the videos I've been putting out. It is neat to see so many people with the same interest in cars that I have. It makes it so much more enjoyable to get out and see some cool stuff and capture it. Thanks again and I hope you have a great New Year! Tom

That kit car (Sabre) is absoloutely phychotic and I like it! My dad's first car was a Crosley. He said it was a real bucket. *FUN FACT: Crosley also manufactured refrigerators. Could be why both car models looked a bit like a fridge.

That Nash is cool!!!
@tomeighty8 ай бұрын
I had actually seen that Nash for a couple of years and filmed a few of his runs but I never looked at it up close. It wasn't until I was walking by it in the staging lanes this last Summer and noticed the gas pedal on the passenger floor. I thought... what the heck, I need to find out what the story is on this one. Turned out to be a really awesome car. Wish I had talent like that to create a vision of a car.

Thanks Tom! LOL, that Almquist looks like an RC car going down track! It’s so tiny!
@tomeighty8 ай бұрын
Yes that Almquist is really an amazing car. I had never heard of one before until this guy put this one together and started racing it. I remember the first time he took it down the track, he went really slow with it. ha ha... I'll bet it is a weird feeling putting something like that together from scratch and trying to trust it won't kill you right away with a big blown V8 in the engine bay. Hope you have a great New Year Dan!

The Nash looks OK but the Bantams, Anglias, and Topolinos were snazier. Back in the 1960's I was often at Great Lakes, US 30, Oswego, and Union Grove. "Be there!"

Great video as always Tom! I'd have to say the snowmobile was my favorite odd duck at the track!
@tomeighty8 ай бұрын
Thank you, and that is awesome that you liked the snowmobile runs I threw in there. I was debating on putting them in or not but up here in Wisconsin it is kind of "normal" to see a snowmobile go down the 1/4 mile drag strip but I would think that could be kind of unique for the rest of the country to see or hear that snowmobiles are allowed to go down a drag strip. Thanks again for the feedback and I hope you have a great day today! Tom

I had a 1960 American Motors Metropolitan convertible that ran an 18.8 at York US 30. Had a Sun tack mounted on the dash I bought from Bob Carroll at Custom Auto Parts in Marrietta, Pa. He ran the Fiat Bug comp coupe that usually was the night's top eliminator. Search for this 1963 competitor to see another blue Tipliino.

Great video loved the run between panty dropper & roach coach quick 👍👍👍
@tomeighty8 ай бұрын
Thank you! And yes I was actually excited to film that match up between cars. I would have loved to see what the Roach Coach could really run if he didn't have a messed up start. Also it seemed like he had to feather the throttle early into the run to keep the front wheels from going up in the air. Awesome cars for sure. Hope you have a great day today John!

Have you not noticed that you can put any...and I mean any kind of vehicle on a drag car frame? I'm still waiting for someone to go down the strip in an old AMC Matador.
@theophilhist64558 ай бұрын
What a collection. Thanks for the fun Tom. The Nash is really cool. But not like what the "purist" did with the Anglia or Henry J's. The way the performance package is layout I think a WW2 Jeep could fit the frame and look just as crazy. The Sabre was pure ballistic crazy. The Roach Coach makes me wonder what it must be like to drive that animal down the strip! The quad...well what can one say but that "butt crack" got away quickly. The Turquois snow mobile...I'm done.

It won't have the nostalgic look of a roots blower which is cool but your potential is limited eventually your just making turbulent hot air, get turbos and go fast, if you put a big snail and make 1000-1300hp or so you could dipping one of those death traps into the 6s, I know that's not the goal of these cars but wouldn't ya wanna see if you can make it really fast.... You can always put it back to old school look or maybe switch the old roots up to a modern screw type blower still have the look but a way more efficient set up.
