this is why Powell is one of my favorite composers

@duttonmatter I might make some more in the future...I've been actually thinking about doing a 'solo piano concerto' based on the themes of Kung Fu Panda 2...:p

I don't know why this theme wasn't reused as a remix in the sequel you can really see the evil bewilderbeasts appearance and good bewilderbeasts death around the the time hiccup attempts to rescue toothless!

Because it didn’t need to be. Also, most of it was reused.

@SergeantMuffins I hope you're not suggesting that I have perfect pitch! I hate it when people assume that! (don't worry, it's not your fault though :)). I used the original orchestral score to 'guide' me. ;)

Aaahhh...if only Cziffra were alive, Hamelin and Cziffra could play this!
@tomekkobialka13 жыл бұрын
@SergeantMuffins I'm afraid I can't tell you the answer to the first question! :( I won't put up the score on my blog or Mediafire because I don't want people taking it and claiming it as their own (at least not this particular score).

Battling the green death is one of my all time favorite tracks besides for bidden friendship, romantic flight, see you tomorrow, and dragons den. Your arrangement of counter attack was amazing! Keep up the good work!

Meghan Schmidt. Do you mean the red-death the green-death was a dragon for game fiction and that purpose only. Not trying to be rude or anything

The score is specifically titled “Battling the Green Death” bro.

I have the soundtrack from this movie and this score has combined both battling the green death and counter attack which is quite interesting. Well done playing it

My three favorite parts of this arrangement are 3:31, 6:22, and 7:24-8:11. I LOVE what you did from 7:22 to 7:30! It sounds so cool! 😀

@0530pianist Sure, we could get f1f1s to play this! He could double-track: record himself playing piano 1 then play piano 2, then put the two recordings together! :p

@GermanSeabass !! I'm sorry about that GS. It sucks that people would do that and I really don't understand what sort of gratification that would bring them. But in any case, thank you (both) for your HTTYD arrangements. I have enjoyed them immensely.

Wow you are a brilliant transcriber. Must have took a lot of effort to pick out all the complex melodies and chords from an orchestral score.
@smsrunner18622 жыл бұрын
Absolutely love this! One question though: the link no longer works, is there a way I could get a copy of the sheet music? I really want to learn to play this.
@samuellabrecque8807 жыл бұрын
Great arrangement! I only have one question: what's the use of the two silent bars (171-172) where there's the Much faster tempo indication? Wouldn't it have made sense to put a caesura on the previous bar to indicate the short break?
@juliancolville65077 жыл бұрын
It's there because that's how it's notated it the actual orchestral score, which this person used to create this arrangement. In film scores they have to notate things very precisely, using empty bars, time signature changes, and tempo markings like 123.8 to get it to match perfectly with the picture.
@samuellabrecque8807 жыл бұрын
Julian Colville Yes I know how film scores are written and notated, I have seen many and wrote for a few independent films myself. My question is more that since this is a transcription for two pianos that could be performed in concert there is no use for those empty bars. I do appreciate how he sticks to the original though.
@juliancolville65077 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to lecture you about your own area of expertise. My mistake.

@Laudan08 Haha i don't earn anything, I go to this place called 'school' where I learn stuff but don't get paid. I got the QL Composers Collection from the Soundsonline website, because it's my birthday next week, and you get a lot of samples for relatively little money.

Woot! My favorite John Powell theme! Do you have a MIDI for this? I love putting tracks in Synthesia and changing the instruments around :O is this you playing? I'm a by-ear piano player as well, and I am truly amazed at this!
@SergeantMuffins13 жыл бұрын
@tomekkobialka That makes me even more intrigued as to who you are, but I think I know :) I know that you are afraid of people claiming it as their own, but in all my years of getting sheet music I've NEVER EVER seen that happen. I mean, i don't know what people will gain from putting their name on the score. Unless of course you are afraid of people sharing it on other forums/websites, then I can understand.

Wow! Just have read the comments... Hahaha! But I'm not the one you're praising... Well, you have infected me with that idea. Et maintenant, je suis possédé de cette idée, mais vous savez, comment... Comment fainéant je suis et comment je toujours m'énerve quand quelqu'un m'enregistre sur vidéo. 00:07-00:16 were gifted to monsieur Powell by Bach's 1052 (English Concerto in Dm), that's an obvious coincidence. The transcription is talented, although few places seem void. Where's the score, huh?!
@SergeantMuffins13 жыл бұрын
@tomekkobialka No, it's just a thought I always had. Like if I had perfect pitch/relative pitch, I would transcribe all day and all night. Actually, I looked on your blog and say the orchestral score when some questions popped into my mind. 1. How did you get the orchestral score? 2. Why won't you put the transcribed sheets up on your blog? I mean I know that the piece is property of Powell, but many people do transcriptions and post them online.
