Tom is an excellent teacher, I have his 3 DVD set of Robert Johnson- and it's the real deal- clearly explained like this lesson.

I learned this from anyone can play guitar. You adding a few extra embellishments, helped give me a couple extra ideas. Sounded great. Thx.

I have played songs on an acoustic guitar. But. It wasn't until I got the thumb independence with all fingers in sync and playing this type of blues that i feel like I'm making music

I tried learning it a couple of years ago, but found it too difficult. I've been learning a lot from Brian @ Active Melody. Now that I have better skill under my belt, I'm finding it more doable! Thank Tom, I am now subscribed and plan to stream lesson. God bless you.

Growth comes when it comes…the often not talked about truth. You can work on something for years and never get it, move on to something else and then go back and suddenly it unlocks.

Such an amazing lesson, this one, thanks for sharing it, Tom - had to comment twice, it's that good! Those Scrapper Blackwell embellishments are just great. Is that what Keb Mo' in fact does on his version? I could never quite get what he was doing...

Great playing. I’ll try to pick it up 🆙. BTW what kind of guitar are you playing? I want a parlor size guitar that is melodic but not loud and can put out the smooth sound of the old Delta players. Yours is the closest I’ve heard. It sounds perfect. Thanks for sharing. 👍☮️🌞🎸💜

it looks to me most of these old styles are played on 3/4 size, "beater" acoustics, is that tradition, functional or ease of play? Sound?

Great video Tom! How does Robert Johnson get such amazing vibrato on songs like ‘come on in my kitchen’? Do you suspect he was using a bottleneck or would it have been made of a different material? Thanks!
@PlayCountryBlues5 жыл бұрын
Mitchell Man. Probably a bottleneck as that would’ve been the easiest material to find. However, vibrato has really nothing to do with the type of slide used and everything to do with the players technique. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHK3YZyMid2ij6s
