FM24 seems to be protecting top flight clubs more than ever. Wouldn't be surprised if they were all getting 'other' cash injections so they can match richer clubs from the lower leagues

I've been done this kind of game. The main problem is the club has quite low reputation. So the better players who has higher reputation won't be joined to these clubs as the AI seems determined this. Except these club has good academy facility and promising youth players. After ten seasons, there only two clubs will be able to reach the premier league but still they won't manage themselves to secure from relegation. They become yoyo clubs until another clubs which are in similar reputation follow their journey to become yoyo clubs and will never going anywhere after 30 seasons.

When you bankroll lower league clubs, the AI can’t handle it… they end up massively overpaying players. I fed Eastleigh vast amounts of money as an experiment and left them to their devices… but they ended up with only two players that weren’t “greyed out” and were pumping massive amounts into two incredibly average players

Every FM release you do these lower league tv deal experiments the AI always leads the clubs to pay hugely inflated wages, you just know it’s gonna happen. It’s almost like it doesn’t want to see a challenge to the top clubs, a bit bizarre really.

The issue comes from the fact that he's giving them a cash injection with their reputation unchanged (when normally such a huge boost would also increase reputation). The AI has no idea how to handle that.

I think what has happened here is that the AI overlooked some things like staffing, and those clubs only prioritized upgrading training facilities. The bad scouts at those clubs kept referring bad players as 4-5 star players to the AI coaches

Meanwhile, give a player that kind of money consistently, and the player will upgrade EVERYTHING at bequest of the board, of course. Point being, the AI are not nearly as money smart as most players who play the game.

Given the way the AI works, I'd like to see an experiment where you don't give them a cash injection, but rather you reverse the reputations (give the Premier League and its teams Vanarama North/South reputation and viceversa, and so on...). I've tried it myself and, after little change during the first five seasons, the teams in the Vanarama Regionals started rising meteorically, thanks to their reputation (and the big teams') allowing them to poach youth prospects. Eventually all Premier League teams, save for Manchester City (who got a reputation boost thanks to the Club World Cup) and (for some reason) Newcastle, collapsed, with West Ham in the National League in just 15 years.
