I decided to repack the curl cylinder while I was pressing in a new bushing.

A 6 point socket is a lot less apt to round off a nut on high torque applications. The "hard plastic" may be teflon, try soaking it in hot water for a few minutes to soften it. It should shrink back after cooling.

The outer piston seal is PTFE 15% glass(PS1400). Yep Teflon with glass fibers in it. Heat shrink is made out of it so try a little heat from a hot air gun if you over stretched it when you pulled it over the piston to get shrunk to fit the cylinder and be careful not to over warm it for the fit over the piston... work with some haste to get it in the groove . Go from the bolt end on the piston to avoid over stretching. The machinist vise is a neat trick!

Wouldn't it have been better to crack the gland open with the spanner while the cylinder was still mounted on the Bobcat?....

Those nuts are torqued to around 500 ft pounds lol.

If I remember correctly, I think the other side was leaking so I rebuilt both sides. Thanks for watching!
