This brought back some wonderful memories! Tamiya will always hold a special place in my heart. My first RC car, back in the 80s, was a grasshopper, which I built with my dad. My second was the lunchbox a couple of years later. They were so much fun! My own son is 4 now, and I can't wait to create similar memories with him. 🥰

I’ve been a Honda fanboy since the ‘80’s when Car and Driver here in America built a twin engine CR-X. And Tamiya ruled R/C. WOW, how times have changed. Im 51 years old, but I still feel 15yo when I watch your videos. Thank you Tomley!

I get the obsession, man. I am obsessed with the Kyosho Javelin. It was my first RC back in 86, and I love them. I built a rere with all the gold parts, and display it in my living room lol.

Good to see the Bigwig coming back. That was my first car. I remember the first time that I drove it, I snapped the bumber. It was at this point that I realised how weak they were and that Tamiya would only sell replacement bumpers with loads of useless extras on the same spur. As a young newbie teenager that made the hobby horribly expensive. So I saved my money and bought a Schumacher Pro Cat, then a Tenth technology after that.

It is a cool car. I guess it's considered one of the comical cars. They are a lot of fun I am sure this one will sell extremely well. I was in an indoor carpet race last Sunday and I raced in the wheelie class which was ten comical cars and lunch boxes. Everyone had fun. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice & great to see them back in production. Your video has me torn though as a 2015 rere was my 2nd ever rc car & I put alloy wheels & wheelie bar, alloy roof spoiler etc. on it, but found it to be a bit of a one-trick pony despite being so cute. Now my tastes have expanded with more exposure in the hobby, I want one again after this. Maybe I just buy a raffle ticket!

My son and I raced at rc outfitters Hanover Pa. in late ‘90s running tlo- 1 spec class, Schumacher stock class 27 turn I think mini and 1/12 scale. Big fun!😊

Now that was a really cool vid. As low as your car is, the one I made for my nephew is worse. It's got drift wheels on it and it only has like 2~3mm ground clearance. Thanks for showing us your modded chassis. Gives me some ideas. I really think Tamiya needs to release another version with a drift chassis/wheels. They would sell I reckon. Finally, as a 54 year old man, I know what it is like to have to look for my Willy.

I coincidentally played RC Pro Am on NES last night and your video has just made me put 2 and 2 together. Had the game from new as a kid and played it so damn much, had never noticed until last night the games title screen featured what looks like a Tamiya Honda City Turbo! The original Tamiya kit came '83 as you said? The game came out '88, and from perspective they used it looks a lot like the inspiration for that car on the title screen was the Tamiya box art (mirrored).

so i have a really old "1985 nikko porsche 959" that funny enough i still have the controller and frequency chips. it will run but she is very tired. think its worth even trying to get it going. i was honestly going to 3d print my own parts and just completely make my own rc based on a 1:10 scale with all new stuff. i figured it's probably going to cost about the same in the long run. i prob could just throw in a new motor and call it a day, but i love the tinkering

Now i remembered why I got a Traxxas back then . They were rtr & didnt look as toysh. Did have the Grasshopper someone else put together & it was so slow it stayed in the scorching S Fla attic of the old house, didnt bother retrieving it . JeJe

I wish companies would make scale road car kits that are more substantial and with a little ground clearance so you can drive them on real roads. Seems like all the stuff that drives well is RTR
