East Lancashire Railway Flying Scotsman Centenary Visit 18.03.23

2nd heritage railway visit in a week, this time to the East Lancashire railway, to see Flying Scotsman and Lady of Legend running, there was also a dmu running from Bury to Heywood and a Pug doing shunting demonstrations in the museum siding.

Hi i didnt manage to get tickets in time for scotsman they were all sold out but managed a couple of trips on lady of legend and the dmu, still a great day and nice to see the scotsman passing at different parts of the line.

Tom, do you know of any main line connection to the East Lancashire Railway? My Mum and I are on the verge of possibly visiting and having a ride there.🤔

Hi Kelly as far as I now there's no network rail station within walking distance but there is a tram line station at Bury I presume you could get a tram to there from one of the Manchester stations, hope this is helpful. Tom

Allright. What's the story of this locomotive? What is his place in steam rail history? Why all th we fuss? Well for starters he was the 1st steam locomotive in be displayed in a public exhibition event. He was th we 1st steamie to star in his own feature film. He was the first steamie to travel non stop from London to Edinburgh. He has travelled on the rails of at least 3 different continent. It's not about setting speed or any other record. Records can be broken but none of the achievements I have listed here can ever be taken from him! He is made a fuss of because he has earned it! And he is representing every person that was involved in those events too! Happy centenary Scott!!!!
