The man is a beast! 71 years beating those drums like a madman!!
@RasputinPrime752 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% I doubt I will be able to do that when I'm 71. But it's also conditioning. He's been training his body to do that 4 so long.. he breathes, sleeps, and even Pee's it. I have never been a big follower of Tommys. But...I will give credit where credit is due. I do like him though. His style & mine are similar in alot of ways. I do alot of playing double bass with flams in between making the intertwining/alternating effect that are good for solos. I have taken it a step further and made it faster and using them as quick fills. Chris Adler does it too.

One thing I have learned is that two bass-drums just sound so much better than a double-kick pedal on one. You can't even compare them. Once you get to a certain speed on a double pedal that extra hit is drowned out by the first. The power & attack of your sound just sounds so much better too with two bass drums. And when playing live with a big audience it looks better for the show you are giving for aesthetics. What looks cooler a small kit on stage, or a big kit with a big rack wrapping around it? Just my personal opinion & preference. But it's true about the bass drums.

A great inspiration. I saw him once at Costco and thought I would go say hi, but then I just left him alone. But then for these several years since I always thought I should’ve said hi, how many people actually know him (other than fellow drummers) and he would probably get a kick out of it. I mean for me/us he is a super famous guy, a legend, a hero, a mentor, etc. But for the average Joe he’s just some dude with long hair. Great solo, thanks for posting !!

Tomy Aldridge is the most musical hard rock drummer still alive. Really he made a very longer and dramatic solo in the early 80s. You have to judge by all his musicalness and not only by a solo. The greatest drummers do short and direct soloes. The sound of Aldridge with the group is fantastic. And, by the way, this is a cell recording and sound is bad.

Every time I watch one of these rock solos it’s the same BS. TA hasn’t grown since the 70s. When I watch Dave Weckl or Vinny or any number of other drummers I cannot understand why anybody posted this video and thinks that it’s entertaining or even good. This is a notch above garage band. 🙄🙄🙄

I insist that all the great drummers use to fix some personal form of solo. This is so in jazz too. Max Roach had done a very personal solo sound and this inspires John Bonham solo and he keep this to the end. And those were not small musicians.
