The "Fat guy in a little coat..." bit came from the days when they shared an office at SNL. Chris Farley would always prank David Spade or try to make him laugh and he put his coat on one day and started singing. Makes me happy that it was something from their real life together. RIP Chris Farley.

You can, actually, hear David Spade, himself, talk about this at the beginning of this video of his stand-up. Apparently, Chris Farley didn't just do it once... he'd do it all the time! 🤣 kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y53MdZawZsSihNE

I was a chubby middle school kid who turned to Chris Farley movies and SNL to get through some rough times. I became a class clown, doing Chris Farley bits. Tommy Boy literally saved my life as a 13 year old. I would say “Black Sheep” was my personal favorite though. Thank you for watching this. Fun Fact: Farley volunteered at a soup kitchen for homeless people Sunday morning after doing SNL until late into the night.

RIP, Chris Farley. Every time I see one of his films, I always laugh. But I always have a sense of sadness because he had so much life ahead of him. Indeed, he always believed that he wasn't enough as himself, so he'd go bigger and bigger and more over the top. Friends have said that he thought he was only funny because of his size and antics. I wish he could have seen the love and sadness that so many feel without him in this world and that he'd know that just being him was enough.

One of my favorite movies! As others have probably mentioned, he and David Spade were best friends. David still honors Chris annually. Spade has overcome a lot of adversity and personal losses in his life (personal and family deaths including most recently, his sister-in-law designer Kate Spade) but he still is always so positive. You will notice sarcastic humor is his specialty. A lot of his early roles were all about it starting with SNL he played snobby snarky characters and it generally followed into his movies. One of my favorite Spade roles, though, was "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star". He is in a lot of Adam Sandler produced movies but they all have a sweet moral message at their core.

This movie is a classic, it’s a shame Chris Farley left us too soon. That scene where the deer tears through the convertible top trashing the car was filmed with an animatronics deer but the final shot of the deer standing on top of the car and jumping off was a real live deer. That one small shot took over a month to capture because they had to lure in a live deer by placing food in the car and staking it out every night just to allow the animal to get used to the vehicle. Talk about dedication.
