Chris Rock is a total class act. He deserves all the praise he is getting. He could have let the incident devolve into a mess. For anyone whose been reading Will's book... Will has spent HIS ENTIRE LIFE stuffing his emotions/feelings down, in order to become "a machine" aimed at succeeding and success. His true feelings are often suppressed by laughter... a protection from others, and from himself. I argue, he still hasn't learnt how to navigate this aspect of himself... mainly due to deep-seated trauma. Not to make excuses for him, at all, but for as successful as he has been in the world; for as many self-help, or as much Alchemical/Transformational work he has done, (rather successfully I may say), the man still has yet to dig deep within himself and unearth that part of himself that really is HIM I feel, despite an entire book on his life, despite the many transformations he has unearthed about himself and his own character... he has still yet to hit the surface of himself, His True Self, and that when he does... we will all get a much better Actor, Entertainer, Person out of it all. And he will also be much happier, fulfilled (that's the real important part). As for now, the public can judge him all they want. But I don't think we've seen The Real Will yet. And when we do, I think we're all really going to like that guy. It's not easy for anyone to transcend that kind of trauma, so kudos to anyone has actually done it.

There are two sides of Will Smith. The likable, always smiling, laughing, joking one he portrays in the movies and media. The other side of Will is the one his wife doesn't love because she truly knows him, the one that charged at Tommy Davidson in a bus, the one that insulted and threatened actor Paul Rodriguez, the same Will Smith who got Janet Hubert fired from the Fresh Prince show because he felt threatened (his words) by her performance, this Will Smith is the true Will Smith. His children came out all bad, as if children who grew up in a traumatizing household. Will Smith's memoir is written by Will himself, so of course he's not going to expose himself.

@@finalfantasy3808 "...he's not going to expose himself." I find this very interesting, what you've said here. I thought so too re Mr Davidson when I saw this interview. Unfortunately, now he's also been called out by one of Chris Rock's friends as not being truthful. dsHe said Chris asked them not to remove Smith from the building and Chris' friends are saying that is BS. Chris was NEVER asked whether he wanted Smith removed. Is there anyone in the Academy who actually wants to tell the TRUTH about what happened...so many different stories from them and so far none of them seem to be the truth. They don't seem to be able to differentiate fact from fiction and all are running for cover (apparently they've all fallen into the fantasy world that are movies and can't find their way out). It just keeps getting more and more nauseating.

@@Crysco.mp3 Well for one, Chris is a Comedian. That's what comedians do. And the joke was so funny that not only did the audience laugh, so did the "dude", her husband. Two, the "wife" went on her social media and declared how much she is ok with her bald head and she didn't care what anyone else thought. BTW, it wasn't even an insult. It was actually a compliment. GI Jane was a. badass. Too bad Jada decided to play the victim. She talk all tough and gangster, insulting whoever she wants in her privileged little world, but can't hang when the tables turn. And Chris was the only one in that mess that showed any class. You see, the show went on. Other than the few minutes of shock, Chris carried the show. Why? Because, unlike the selfish response from Will who thought the whole night was about him, Chris kept it cool, knowing the night actually belonged to the Oscar recipients. So yeah, that!

I got one key point about the slap , Had Will got up on stage and slapped the black female comedian who came on before Chris Rock who actually made jokes about his marriage unlike Chris Rock would people still be defending Will Smith and praising him ? And if you would not praise Will Smith slapping a female black comedian whose jokes were more aggressive then that's where the whole Willy defence crashes, Because in saying one is good for the goose and not the gander then that in itself is a direct and open attack on double standards which is a prejudice up there with racism sexism and so on, It's really an open and shut case . He shouldn't have done it he was way out of line infact potentially mentally unstable and may need psychiatric help, Chris is an obvious victim and professional massive respect to him although I don't find him funny lol , And anyone defending Will is defending prejudice, It's a green card to jump up on stage anytime and slap anybody fortunately this occasion it was not a woman being attacked I would really be ashamed of humanity that we could stoop so low as to condone such out of context violence and the potential cheers and praise that we as a species would encourage anybody being attacked at an award show on stage in front of the world. It's disgusting cheap and goes to show you money really don't buy class baby ❤

@xxyes88792 жыл бұрын
No of course he wouldnt have hit a female, but you cant compare apples with pears because they are not equal. Will may be stronger than Chris but he is phenomenally stronger than a woman (right Lia Thomas, you cheater?), so angry as Will was in that moment, that knowledge would have stopped him. He also probably would not have hit a white male comedian. Ricky Gervais is tired of his name coming up in this, but can you imagine Smith doing that to him? I can`t. Gervais is also a British comic, so that would be another national barrier. Smith knew he could do that to Rock cause he is male, black, and American, and he has worked with him quite alot to boot. If the shoe was on the other foot, it would be the same outcome. I don`t think a white actor would hit a black comedian, but I could imagine them lamping another whitie cause the racial barrier is not there to stop them. Chris is also smaller, yes, so Wills actions are pretty cowardly, but even more to the point, Chris was in a situation in front of millions of people live where he was not able to retaliate...he had to go on with the show. Not a good look for Smith at all. Still he is human (albeit a Hollywood one with more ego than sense) - he misunderstood a dumb joke and lost it for a moment. Ive seen it enough times before, though never at the Oscars! Needs to definitely receive some form of punishment for the violence. I like what the comedian in this video suggested, that Will make an apology video with Rock. However, I dont see why Chris would agree to that. Why should he? Chris has come out as the hero and should now milk this baby for all its worth, while getting some private therapy to help him deal with the post-shock after effects. Let Smiths career suffer for a while. People are definitely turned off from his movies by this.

Given how fans and celebrities have attacked him, his parents and sister in an unprovoked manner over the many years, the son was all for it. Of course this doesn't excuse Will's actions, but Will and his family have been taking it on the chin for years and they had enough of it.

@sandrakarwel2 жыл бұрын
Chris Rock was a comedian at a Hollywood event. Will Smith committed a crime of "Felony Battery". Smith ruined the event's morale of the whole show. If a common person would have done "Felony Battery" to a guest speaker they would have been carted off to jail. Will Smith was outrageously in error and showed tremendous bad behavior. Like Jim Carrey said it was sickened. Jada is married to a comedian, so she is not immune to humor or jokes. Yet we forgot Will Smith was brought up as a comedian on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where his whole character was belittling and making fun of the Bel-Air family. The light-hearted joke by Chris Rock was done playfully and without malice. The audacity of Will Smith to disrupt the whole show by getting on stage to "Felony Battery" the host is horrendous and thereafter become belligerent is unacceptable. This is exactly like spouse abuse, where the insecure wife is so in love with her husband that she will not press charges over being hit in the face by her abusive husband, hence the abuse is continuous and intensifies. This scenario plays a much larger role in regards to the legal and justice system. Will Smith did "Felony Battery" and it was international broadcasted all over the globe, however because of the love fans have for Smith, the magnitude of his felony is dismissed. This sets a precedence for other felony crimes to be committed by celebrities' without legal consequences. This is so horrid.

On April 2, on People, Will Smith said he had applied to withdraw from the Academy as a member and would accept all sanctions and disciplinary measures after the act of slapping Chris Rock on the Oscar stage. 94th time. “My actions in slapping Chris Rock were unforgivable. The list of people I've hurt is long, including Chris Rock, his family and friends, my loved ones, and an entire global audience. I betrayed the trust of the Academy.”
@christophertracy28072 жыл бұрын
That is a horseshit gesture that they cooked up so they can let Smith keep the Oscar and not have to do anything to him. I am not buying it and Smith has shown that he can not be trusted. I heard Tony Rock (Chris' comedian brother) say that there are 10 Rock brothers. I hope Will has to see some of them at some point.

HE WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT SO IF YOU REJECT HIM YOU WILL BE SEPARATED FROM HIM & HIS BLESSINGS (LOVE, PEACE, JOY, HOPE, REST, ETC). IN HELL YOU WILL BE ALONE WITHOUT GOD OR PEOPLE, YOU WILL BE HOPELESS, YOU WILL BE IN DESPAIR & AGONY FOREVER! GOD'S STANDARD FOR HEAVEN IS PERFECTION AND ONLY JESUS (THE SON OF GOD/GOD IN THE FLESH) LIVED THAT PERFECT LIFE! HE LAID DOWN HIS LIFE & TOOK THE WRATH OF THE FATHER ON THE CROSS FOR YOUR SINS! GOD IS JUST SO HE MUST PUNISH SIN & HE IS HOLY SO NO SIN CAN ENTER HIS KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. IF YOU ARE IN CHRIST ON JUDGEMENT DAY GOD WILL SEE YOU AS HIS PERFECT SON (SINLESS SINCE YOUR SINS ARE COVERED BY JESUS' OFFERING). YOU CAN ALSO CHOOSE TO REJECT JESUS' GIFT/SACRIFICE & PAY FOR YOUR OWN SIN WITH DEATH (HELL) BUT THAT SEEMS PRETTY FOOLISH! GOD SEES & HEARS EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID & DONE.
