Who would thumbs down this? A frustrated guitarist? This is gold!

(Mere words can only trivialize this, but here goes...) I can't imagine how much rehearsal must have gone into this arrangement of "Avalon," but the ensemble-playing is flawless, and the solos are breathtaking. I'd like to imagine that this might be what the Quintet of the Hot Club of France sounded like on a night when Grappelli and the bass player were out with head-colds. The second tune, "A Smooth One," is an example of relaxed understatement, which allows Tommy and Frank, chops-monsters both, to explore leisurely (for them) the common ground shared by Django and B. B. King, while Vinny gets to shine as a one person, complete, rhythm-section. (See? I told you that mere words would be inadequate, but I did my best.)

I've seen Tommy play several times including with his brother Phil who lives just down the road from me. Blows me away every time. But watching this I am reminded that Django Reinhart used to do this with just THREE FINGERS!

I find it strange that Django Reinhardt is not mentioned above in the description - because all this great guitar playing is based on the music of Django and the Quintette of the Hot Club The France - which, I'm sure, Tommy would be the first to confirm.

I think he screwed up and got nervous and blamed some guy with a phone. Not the first time he does. It's totally normal since he's a human being and can screw things up sometimes, but there is an army of idiots out there who believe if he makes a mistake the world stops spinnin so he has to cover his back doing what he did there, blaming the sound guy, etc. Happens. I'm 100% amazed by his talent. As far as I know, he's the most talented man in the whole wide world.

I have seen tommy go off at a person for talking on a phone in the frount row before. I think He takes it personal when he is playing his heart out and someone disrespects him like that.

I think he plays a signature Thorell... if I'm right he requested a guitar that is modeled after a regular archtop and a selmer-style gypsy jazz guitar. Helluva pricetag

"Turn that thing off"!.....Bully for you Tommy. That's really a high in lows for some idiot to have their cell or smart phone going while you're performing. Insult city. Too bad security didn't come down and yank them out of there. That's as bad as going to a concert and the people in front of you decide to stand up and wave their arms. It's pure Dangerfield as far as respect.

if it was an emergency call from the cops telling you your kid got hit by a car--- then id stuff tommy in his own guitar, then go check on my kid but other than that tommy was right to do that

He's just pissed at the guy with the phone! I'm a musician and I find it disrespectful when someone is just talking on the phone or texting when you are performing! It's especially disrespectful when you have a huge concert like with tommy and there is someone chatting away. It's rude, disrespectful, and downright inappropriate at any concert.

then he was just mad at the point he wanted to kill that guy. ;-) I don't own the truth, it was just my impression. I may be mistaken (95% probability)
