We have been listening to him for over 50 (not 30) years here in Australia...from the Emmanuel family band (age 6), his time in 'Goldrush' (on drums- brother Phil played guitar) different t.v. show themes we grew up with, his telecaster days, we love him VERY much. Glad you do too. (youtube Tommy and Phil -they are great fun.) We have quietly considered him the best on the planet for a long time, yet ever day he is 'discovered' by someone who never heard of him before. Enjoy.

Buddy of mine calls me up and tells me I gotta go see this guy in Toronto last week. Never heard of him. Checked this vid on youtube here along with a few others. Completely floored. Ive played guitar for 30 + years and had never even heard of him. Go to his show in Toronto and I have to say..I was actually ASHAMED OF MYSELF for not knowing who he is. I wish I had known 20 years ago cause flat out...Tommy Emmanual IS the best guitar player in the world and has been for years. Just amazing.

Along with the sheet music to this song (excerpts found in Google Books), I found these liner notes by Tommy E: "I think one of the hardest things that I’ve ever had to learn is patience; and trust and faith in believing that things are going to work out. That’s really hard to learn, to be patient. That’s what this song is about. About truly trusting that if your motives are right, and everything about you is heading in the right direction, then there is no way you can go wrong."

I have the cd of his called "ONLY" with "Those Who Wait" being the first track, and you can actually still hear the fret buzz on the studio recording. It's just my opinion, but I think Tommy is such a genius that he purposely leaves the buzz in there to give the song character--so you can actually "hear the wood", so to speak.

Well, we all need to have a dream :) And it does not matter how many times he shows you how he plays, you can never offer more than a poor imitation if you try. Like all those people who have done original covers of his songs, you need to take the essence of the music & translate it into your own musical voice if you want it to sound any good.

Think I heard him say somewhere that the song is about that good things comes to those who doesn't live life just on the basis of the temporary pleasures we can find everywhere (those who wait and find fulfillment in activities they've invested time, heart and soul in). For example: an individual living to just please his senses and cure his boredome as fast as possible may of course find joy, but this joy will not compare to for example a seasoned guitar player like tommy playing his heart out

About the fret buzz thing - yeah, if you watch his earlier videos or listen to records, there have always been fret buzz present from time to time, but way less than here in this video. so maybe his guitar got worn out over the years. Personally I love it. It adds unique character to his songs.

Let us instead give Tommy a good listen to hear the message..and then reflect on the music and its universal appeal. This, for instance, is for me a song full of promise. The title alone is an encouraging one! A good musician is very accomplished at letting his instrument do the talking. Fact is, his talent is THERE, and he uses it in a way loved by most of us -including me. To top that off, he seems like a nice guy, too...what more do you want? What I´d like to know is whether Tommy has released the song yet..
