Agassi said Nick doesn't know anything about tennis and suggested playing a set against him if you have any doubts.

That sounds like the lamest coaching ever! :P

Congress should pass a law making it illegal for a man past age 70 to appear shirtless in public.

Nick's methods may be outdated, but you can't argue with his stable of champions. He's also more believable and likeable than that pretend coach, Rick Macci

I’ll never forget nicks words when he was addressing the academy while I stayed there. “ ya live by the racket, ya die by the racket”.

@bruceknuce9 жыл бұрын

He meant it as a compliment. Like " now THAT's a backhand!"

NB is a fraud. anyone who knows tennis knows this. he is just powerful, a “legend,” but he is just a rich con artist who built lots of courts, hired drillers, and stole talent from good local coaches. he never coached anyone to #1, it’s a myth.
@alexshah78603 жыл бұрын
@@sayresrudy2644 100% agree. I used to be at his academy. He doesn't know jack about tennis. He just stands behind a player and acts like he knows what is going on. The way his academy works is that he gives a scholarship to players who are already top in their age group and show good promise. Chances of 1 of these players making it big is pretty high already. When the world gets to know these players it looks like Nick developed this players when in truth that player could have made it under any coach.

America may not be churning out top players these days but a shit load of top players have gone down the Bollletteri rod and struck gold so I don't see who could attempt to put him down when it comes to tennis.

Bollettieri's genius was convincing dozens of top juniors and young adults to come to his academy and beat the crap out of each other until the best players came out on top. It was all about the competition.

Nick was the most intelligent coach in history. Period. He saw a champion a mile away and knew what it took. Agassi needed him those first years for sure. I was there. I was one of his elite protégés too in 1985 and that’s that.

Nick Bollettieri: tennis coaches like him is the reason american tennis is so stale....need fresh coaches in american tennis.....you can get the fundamentals from the books.....they need current superstars to be giving out lessons to the youngsters
@RobertHurleyJr4 жыл бұрын
Federer had great coaching from Peter Carter. They absolutely excelled at his fundamentals and brought it to a great level. If anyone wants to learn tennis I suggest watching the 2003 wimbledon final and take notes on John McEnroes commentary about Federers game. Its spot on!

Haas is similarly talented as Federer if he had had similar level coaching he might have had much better results. For with Haas it all came down to mindset, he had all the shots. But Bolleteri doesnt seem to stress real tennis IQ, variation, superior preparation on shots etc. So without the proper framing of all the shots Haas was never able to put it all together. Him and Marcelo Rios most talented without a slam to be sure.
@alexshah78603 жыл бұрын
Haas is not even close to Federer's talent level. Haas is way too mechanical. Fed's footwork is way better. Fed takes the balls earlier. You can't teach that. Fed has a much bigger forehand. Way better variety on the backhand, which also he takes earlier. Fed's transition game is better too.
@ChristiaanRoest793 жыл бұрын
@@alexshah7860 Exactly, Federer was much better. And definitely more talented.
@MichaelSienkiewicz Жыл бұрын
@@ChristiaanRoest79 at some point it's senseless to debate who is more "talented." They both trained their whole lives, Fed is an all-time great and Haas is a very good player but no slams
@Anaben1110 жыл бұрын
guys, wouldn't you say that haas' forehand looks kind of stiff (unrelaxed unlike federer's for example). Kind of weird for a top 10 player right?
@didanhtennis10 жыл бұрын
It's his Achilles heel. Strange that he never really fixed that or abandoned it for a better forehand. What a pity.
@michelegrassi43857 жыл бұрын
comparing a normal forehand to Federer's forehand is almost impossible because Federer has the best forehand of all time in my opinion. anyway i have the impression that Haas wants to anticipate too much when he uses his forehand,i don't know why.
@teteskone415 жыл бұрын
IMHO, I would suggest a pistol grip or a bigger handle: he looks like having a hammer grip on a small handle, that's where the stiffness comes.
@RobertHurleyJr4 жыл бұрын
Yeah hes way late on it. Racquet head isnt ready at all. Complete contrast to hus backhand.

. doesnt mean much. Like Agassi they have the talent and are practicing. Using the facilities, weather, and network of players at Bolleterris to their advantage. A drought of Male chsmpions since 03. Maybe Americans should develop in Europe. START from scratch with american tennis teaching.
