My cousin introduced me to this set about a week or two before it came out. He wasn't able to buy it but I grabbed it at midnight and spent a few days slowly building it between work and taking pictures frequently to document the build for my cousin. Had all three movies on in the background while I built it and it was honestly one of the most fun LEGO sets I've ever built! As a BTTF super fan, I couldn't be happier with it!

We need a Biff set with his car and gang of friends a Griff set thats similar, a clock tower set, time train, experiment scene with Doc's truck, libians and Delorean and maybe the film booth. I think the reason a lot of interior detail was left out was because they wanted to keep it at the same scale of the Ecto-1, and if they added all that extra detail the DeLorean would've been larger than what they wanted.

Finally bought and built mine now that they're back in stock. That was one of the weirdest Lego builds I've ever done, the underpinnings are something else. The end result is great. Also a big YES on a Lego Clocktower or time train.

I do wish they stopped using the color rainbow inside for 18+ sets. Or sets in general. Faded instructions would be just as clear if not more. I think it could even reduce the production costs.

I agree the rainbows seem kiddish, however, the 18+ line is ultimately just a marketing thing. The sets themselves aren't necessarily more complex, and generally aren't focusing on designs only appealing or appropriate to those over 18. It's a way to sell collector oriented pieces, making the busts actually seem like a collector's item [rather than a toy], to justify prices among other things. It also importantly appeals to those who previously would not buy Lego, or haven't since their childhood, creating an audience for the newest builders in the oldest demographic. While they're pointless to many, the multicoloured insides do help the newest with the building process

The last Lego set i got was actually the Voltron one which was such a thrill to build and there needs to be more sets that combine like Voltron so i am really hoping that Lego Transformers is real cause that could open the door for something like Devastator.

I got two as well. One built as the 1985 version and one as the 2015 version. Add the Dimensions Marty and Doc for the 1985 display stand, and it's as perfect as it can get. Had they included train wheels, I would've bought 3 copies.

The 2015 and 1985 parts of Part II were kind of a miss. The 1955 part absolutely nailed it though. Seeing two Marty's and two Doc's navigate through the same scenes from BttF, and seeing everything from a different perspective was absolutely genius. BttF will always be my favorite out of the three, closely followed by Part III.

Literally two people already compared the Lego DeLorean to the scale model and it’s old counterpart. But still great vid!

I love this model, I knew I need it when I saw it, two of my obsessions from childhood, LEGO and the Delorean together. With a 3rd party lightning kit it looks fantastic, I was also thinking about a magnetic levitation platform, but the weight (bit more than 1 kg) makes it hard to find a strong enough platform. However my main issues with the model that some details are easily falling apart, like the whole Mr. Fusion assembly, the metallic accent tiles on the back and the vents. Makes it hard to move the model, they should be designed to have stronger connections.

Actually, I found a simple solution for the falling of metallic curved tile. Where the black cable crosses goes under the metallic curved tile, the structure under the metal looks like this: black, double blue x3 and single blue (this one is the problematic, holding the other curved element). If we change the order to black, single blue, double blue x3 the whole structure becomes stronger.

I decided to make the Mr. Fusion realistic to replace the compass with a gray colored variant, I'm just gonna pretend that that's the radio, and the black piece is the Digital Speedometer, even if it is unrealistic. (Also the vents were originally a metallic color, but in a 1990 before the film refurbishment they were colored black, the vents are both accurate and inaccurate)

Finished building the car this week and having built ECTO-1 before that, I have to say that im a bit disappointed. The car looks great but you need to be quite careful when handling or you'll just keep dislodging parts from the car. Also the base frame of the car isn't even close as sturdy as ECTO-1's. It's nice if you plan to have it sitting on display but handling-wise it's really not that great.

I think the Ecto 1 is still my favourite build, but this set is definitely the Lego Delorean that I've always wanted. The only real thing that properly stands out to me is that the gap between the flux capacitor build and plutonium chamber/Mr fusion is a bit too empty for me, and unless I missed something the blue pieces just hanging there is weird to me. But everything else is exactly what I wanted. Would definitely recommend it, especially to back to the future fans

Not a bad set by any means (heck, I bought two), and I respect what the designers have done to give this car justice. It is definitely a lot better than the 2014 set. But as a BTTF superfan and more specifically as a Delorean Time Machine enthusiast and someone trying to make a real life 1:1 scale replica of the car, the set does lack in a few choice areas. I will say the overall stock shape of the Delorean is very well done. When I first saw that one promo picture they put of the car (the small one on the back of the box) as a thumbnail on the Lego site, I legitimately thought it was a picture of a real time machine (either replica or one of the screenused cars). But where I have issue with the set comes in with the detail of the time machine components itself. As you pointed out, the interior is lacking pretty heavily in terms of the details found inside the car. Really all we get are the Flux, the Time Circuits display and switch, and the plutonium gauges. There's a lot of detail behind the seats of the car besides the flux that isn't present on this car or even hinted at. With the 2014 Cuusoo set, this was at least some what excusable due to the scale of the car. But with this one, I dunno...I feel like there should have been more than there was. There's also a lack of details on the dash. The speedometer and wiring like you said, along with those black boxes on the binnacle. It just feels like the biggest pieces were accounted for, and the rest skipped over for no reason. Then there's the rear deck. And I'm just gonna say it. The light brick and the gimmick of having the flux capacitor have a light inside of it completely screwed over the amount of details for the rear deck. So much of the space back there is dedicated just to having the button and compartment for the light brick. It makes the back of the car feel so empty. Not to mention the fact that it heavily influences the way the Flux is designed. It sticks out far inside the car and is pretty low detailed if I'm honest. All just so it could have the light inside it. And some of the lack of detail doesn't even make sense. Those red cans on the driver pontoon should be further back and have black circular canisters in front of them, and after looking at the instructions of the car, this is something they absolutely could have done. So why they didn't, I have no idea. Tbh, I think the BrickVault UCS Delorean design handles these areas much better than the official set did. I haven't built BrickVault's design, but just in comparing pictures of the details between the two, BrickVault's has way more going on and matches the actual time machine components way better. But BrickVault's issue is the actual shape of the car itself. I was never a huge fan of how it looked in the context of just the stock Delorean shape. Therefore, something I am going to try to do, is combine the two cars and get the best of both of them. Keep the exterior shape of the car from the official Lego set, and combine it with the detail of the BrickVault design. Really most of the pieces will fall into place simply by removing the light brick and building up the rear deck. But I also plan on fixing things like the gap in the Flux Bands and the bright colors sticking through. Hopefully it'll work out. We'll see.

Its a cool set, BUT!!! The main problem and the main reason for not buying it ....the colour! A DeLorean is a steal car, so its silver. Thats the most iconic look ever created and Lego made it grey??? WHY.... all the parts are available in silver... thats just cheap, because they can make 1$ more profit. Not mentioning the fact that they used yellow conectors and pink bricks inside the car again...
