I am well scared of drops like that. You know if you clip the lip of the landing ramp you‘re dead so you always err on the side of too much speed but then you land in the flat. I have learnt how to avoid injury on 15ft+ drops - I dont ride them!! So respect and kudos to you for riding it and walking away from it. Stoked to see you on the way to recovery. Legend.

RIGHT. if you don't feel it that day. don't do it. He had zero body movement as he rode up to and off the lip. So the front wheel dropped to low. Was fully extended in the air. almost losing his grip on the pedals. no chance from the time he stated the run up. Listen to your gut. It tells you everything you need to know.

@@ianzander5057 nah, he was only fully rigid cus he was going way too fast and knew there was no chance of him riding it out, so he was just kinda preparing for the massive g out when he landed

halfway trough the jump you could already see he's going to crash it wasn't just overspeeding and landing too far, he leaned to front and to side, basically shitting himself and giving up mid air still respect for having balls to attempt it, not sure those dry runs are really helping your confidence honestly the trails are getting too extreme for normal people, don't think I'll ever get to such jumps since I am already a bit old for this ;o]] really lucky he did not break his collar bone cause that shoulder impact was huge

How is your concussion? I got one too. Future concussions are likely. Just how it works- you will be "off" for a long time. Helmets do not protect against concussions- only skull fractures. Concussions happen inside your skull.

Shit tends to look small on camera but even on cam that looked big! The minerals needed to hit something like that where the margin for error is so tight is nuts, proper threading the needle stuff getting your speed bang on going in. Huge respect and always good to see someone walk away from a biggie!

Literally gave me goosebumps just watching this.. from a builder’s perspective, maybe remove any rocks, stumps etc from the fall zone. If you hit your head or ribs on something hard things the outcome could be pretty bad. Just my two cents. Massive props for the riders and builders though, looks very well built.🙌

Glad you walked away from that one pal and respect for giving it a go. Also respect for being wise enough to say you won't be doing that shit again. Guys in the neighborhood I grew up in used to jump the canal levees that looked similar to that drop with old school dirt bikes with lousy shocks and forks. They would blast up the levee, then sail over the top of it and try to stay upright after sailing through the air and landing at the base of the other side. I never could get myself to do it. And there would always be some goober trying to go up the wrong way against traffic. Stay safe out there!

Judging the speed on any feature, is always the hardest part. Most of the time you want to go fast to clear it, and usually it ends up being too fast. This drop raised the stakes with that gnarly landing. I wouldn't want to get my rear wheel hung up on that lip! Hope you're all right, and the concussion has gone away already.

I will name this crash the "Unlucky Lucky" The way you slid sidways dissipated lots of the crash energy, you hit the ground hard, you rolled over that fallen tree using your head as a pivot to finally stop having a nice rest in the side of the track. Hope you are ok and all good with your head. Remember treat jumps and drops like a woman, don't go too deep too fast 😊
