@josee-annejoly68967 жыл бұрын
They are getting very good at restoring hearing! They cannot cure all cases but they can cure a whole bunch of them! Sight is much more difficult to restore because of the mecanism of how the brain perceives an image and fill in everything to make depth perception and everything. It's much more complex, but science is evolving very fast! They already have devices that allow people with certain type of blindness to see, but it's use is quite limited.

So even if he did regain vision, at his age it's highly unlikely he would ever be able to use it like we do or on the level that we do

You should try to get your hands on the brainport vision device. It allows you to actually SEE with your tongue. I am not kidding. Very, very low resolution... but still!
@LarryLynx7 жыл бұрын
/watch?v=xNkw28fz9u0 It is just very basic monochromatic vision I believe. A lot of videos about it, so it is not made up. The brain can translate any signal to vision if it understands how to. Just like people "echo-locating" actually activate parts of their occipital lobe while doing so (which is associated with sight). However, since the tongue has a very limited amount of sensors, the vision becomes very limited.

CGI is wonderful. It is imagination brought to life. You hear stories about things that don't exist, like aliens, or fairies, or magic spells, and CGI allows these stories to take real-life form. It's really cool! Also, some stuff you might want to see would be nature-based, snow falling all around you, waterfalls, fields of wheat or corn, mountain ranges, forests of evergreen trees, gardens, a herd of buffalo running across the plains, a flock of birds flying across the sky. Oh! And sunsets. They're amazing.

The Tommy Edison Experience I'm not entirely sure if you were looking for an answer to this but in order to put a 3d objects onto a piece of paper you need to first imagine how it would feel to be holding a hollow circle. now imagine that the circle is flatten as then or dinner then paper. that is a drawing of a circle. now imagine a arc somewhere in the center of the circle and the texture from it to the edge is gradually different. people who can see you would see it as a three dimensional objects if this is done correctly.

Tommy, I understand this may be an inappropriate question, but have you ever considered trying the psychedelic substance DMT? I have read some reports (as have you, I'm pretty sure) that blind since birth people actually "see" something under the influence. They might not make sense of it, but they really DO. And I'm pretty sure people have already suggested that. But still, think about it.

One thing I always wondered is that since he is born blind, if the very first thing he saw was a physically attractive naked woman, would he be so weirded out or overwhelmed since everything (including colours) are new to him? Or does his natural instincts come into play and find her completely normal and attractive?

I really think that this is such an awesome perspective. I have been across the US several times and I always like new experiences, even if they arent always pleasant. Experiencing new things is always great! I've been through natural disasters, I've seen The Great Lakes, I've seen wild animals and birds that were on the brink of extinction. I've gone hunting, fishing, hiking, and canoeing. I've seen some horrible things too. I've seen a child with a crushed pelvis, dead cats and dogs, a stillborn calf, and several dead people. I've seen horrible accidents and people burning alive. I completely understand wanting to see all of it. Those experiences are indescribably valuable. I've seen events that nobody else has seen and never will and that is awesome. It may sometimes be shocking or gut-wrenching, but to look away or try to forget these things would be a disservice to myself and the poor souls that suffered. Every new sight has value. They contain knowledge and wisdom just waiting to be obtained. I carry all of that with me and I share what I can with others so that we all can learn and grow with one another. Curiosity is never something to be discouraged. Not ever.
