When I first heard this tune I knew Tommy is from another planet. I tried to learn this tune in years ... forget it. You must give your life to play like this...

Such an absolute masterpiece ! & it is by NO means his only. I honestly never even imagined that "solo acoustic guitar instrumentals" could ever be so significant, until I accidentally discovered Tommy. "World Class" !

@DannyHood-jАй бұрын
@@willz2303 You’re first thought was correct. Your second thought’ either means your NOT a guitarist, Or your NOT watching to learn this to play yourself. Camera guy doesn’t play guitar if you watch. He thinks it’s ALWAYS necessary to see picking strumming hand. Sometimes it is. Not once does he show Tommy’s guitar directly up front across for the viewer
@willz2303Ай бұрын
@@DannyHood-jtook me a while to realize what I meant 4 years ago. It was a joke to myself that a split screen won’t make a difference for me give the skill level I was. So you are right in I wasn’t planning to refer to this video for learning. But always good to get pulled back to enjoy this video again, now that I might try to tackle this master piece. Cheers
Great song! But honestly Tommy, do you really believe one of us could master your skills by this video? You are like Jesus teaching us to walk on water.
@sweetsourpork1112 жыл бұрын
You can learn his songs note for note. What I've learnt is I can never play them and sound great. It's easier to master styles and build on that, rather than learning his songs and playing it perfectly. Well advanced players will look to Tommy as another style to learn and pick up a lot.... It probably keeps them on their toes as well. Though the world is full of great guitar players, Tommy as an all round guitarist is a Guru. In his own right greater than most because he can pull out any old classic pop song we all love and make it a dramatic composition. Tommy doesn't get played much at my place Im not the biggest fan. But he would be the first person I'd ask to play for me 😆

... been my hero for 15 years and still going strong! It's great thing that you decided to throw behind-the-scenes for these key parts. I started learning this song back in ~2007-2008 and got "around it", sloppy. Maybe some day I will really master this song, but never-the-less seeing the original post (kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2XXg5aBe6qIors) made such an impact to my playing style that I got started to develop my personal style for playing, which has the same components which Endless Road applies: Rhythm & melody... the only thing I'm missing is that darn accurate plectrum work! But really, one song can change the course of another musician. It's really hard to image what my life would be without this song, and how many great gigs would have gone past simply because I wouldn't have had that "flow" which I acquired by learning rhythmic playing with the melody.

Hybrid picking means you never know if the melody is played with fingers or the pick.

You can tell the camera guy doesn’t play guitar. He thinks it’s necessary to see the strumming picking hand and fretting hand from both sides. Sometimes. The best angle you dont need camera guy for , would be like sitting in front of teacher directly across. Simple. Maybe close ups on technique like Travis picking’ Chet Atkins lead / bass. He shows the intro. Good luck LMAO!
