The first time I heard this song in 2013, it made me shed tears from its sheer beauty. I had barely played guitar before that , but that afternoon I went a picked up a $1,600 Taylor. best purchase I ever made. As I now can play most of his music.. I owe it all to this legend.

I’m only slightly speculating here, but I believe that the title of this song, “Those Who Wait” refers to Isaiah 49:31. That passage is, “Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” NKJV.

Those Who Wait and Endless Road are in no particular order my favorite songs of all time by Tommy. They take you on a whole emotional journey. At good times a wonderful composition indeed, and at bad times a beacon of hope as if your grandmother gives you a rub on the shoulder and tells you it's gonna be all fine in due time.

One important tip he gave in one of his videos was to anchor your pinky finger on your right hand to the guitar when your finger picking. It keeps your thumb parallel to the strings, better control. The man is a GENIUS!!!

Tommy, I know you’ll be performing your first show in North Dakota this fall in Bismarck. Hopefully you’ll be moved by the spirit of Lewis and Clark who spent the winter of 1803-04 on the Missouri River across from what is now Bismarck in what is now Mandan. I’m sure you’ll play your masterpiece “Lewis and Clark” that night. My brother and his wife live there and will be seeing you for the first time. I live in the Twin Cities and have had the pleasure of seeing you over a dozen times.

Still needs a little work but I am sure Tommy could bat it into shape. Tommy plays it differently on every recording i have heard but these lyrics are to the Tommy Emmanuel - Those Who Wait (Sierra Center Stage 2006) version. THOSE WHO WAIT:- (For Phil and Virginia) Ver 3.11 0:00 For those of you waiting 0:06 For those of you waiting for life to restart 0:11 For those of you waiting for peace in your heart 0:17 Peace in your heart. Hello Tommy, it might be to much to ask, but i would really really love some insight into your thoughts behind songs. I really love this piece, and the title gives me all sorts of ideas. Although ultimately the beauty in music may come from the fact that a piece means something different to everyone, i am just really interested in what some of your pieces mean to you! greetings from the netherlands, you are a great guy, and i know it because you stayed to meet and greet everyone when you did a show here!!
