@@Bob-fh4ht ya but he is being ignorant- you can’t say science v Twitter. It’s a super contentious issue within science with most within the community labelling race as a fiction of humanity’s desire to neatly categorise and of course enshrine certain social advantages.
@scottnunnemaker52092 жыл бұрын
Tommy, the problem with looking for the science on race, is that ‘race’ is not scientific. It’s more a cultural or societal category than anything actually scientific. Also, to answer most of your other questions, we just don’t know what happened in prehistory. We’re still trying to work it out. Some of the physical differences we have in different areas are both reactions to the environment and from vanity. Different cultures in different areas have different beauty standards so the people end up looking differently. Japanese history has a really good example of this where certain face shapes were celebrated more than others and led to the way a lot of Japanese people look like today, kogao is the name of the ideal face shape. This specific face shape and a belief pale skin was more beautiful was like the mainstream Japanese beauty standard for hundreds of years and it wasn’t until more recently when more natural looks that were less pale started to make a comeback. These cultural beauty standards over time shape how we look. Or things like African hair or European hair has to do with the different environments our ancestors lived in. Whether it was colder or warmer.

Fun fact, Lithuanians has one of the oldest Indo-European languages. The Balts (tribes people that lived near Baltic sea) come from India. And In India there is language called Sanskrit (one of the oldest languages in the world) and here is a fun part - many words of Lithuanian is very similar to Sanskrit words. The sound of these words are very similar - especially those first words like - deva / dievas (god), aksi / akis (eye), danta / dantis (tooth), dina / diena (day), sūnu / sūnus (son), etc. So there is evidences of these events not only in archeological foundings, but even in languages of todays world (like Lithuania still have something common with India).
